General Snus feels sticky!!!

ok i bought some Wintergreen Snus and Original Snus and when i opened them up they both had a similar odor to them both and well....putting one in my mouth tasted foul, almost like soap!! they also feel mushy when i lightly squeeze the pouches...the back of the tins say they are far from expiring but somethings a bit off here...

The mushy part is normal as is a slight ammonia odor ( a byproduct of fresh tobacco).Is this the first snus you've tried?

first swedish besides the Mint mini, the local place finally got some other flavors and they are white portion ones...before this all i could use was winterchill camel...they both had a similar strong flavour and odor but out of fear i removed them lol.

Swedish snus can take a little getting used to. With most you're better off not smelling them although I do like the smell of the thunder berry.

accually now im tasting and smelling salt...its less pronounced compared to when i first placed it in my mouth...the mini mint seemed to have less salt...later figured out the mini mint is a womans flavour or something which is probably why it didnt taste this salty.

Don't know if there is a different in taste between the mint and the mini mint, but don't go saying the mint is a woman's flavor. A lot of us are finding that to be one of our favorites and I'm not going to admit to any woman's side just yet.

I for one never had any initial issue with Swedish and my first can was Camel since I couldn't find anything else local and I was waiting on a Swedish order. My first can was purified which are very different that everything else. After that, I tried all different stuff and still am looking for something I don't like. I don't spend much time smelling the portions.

I don't notice the salt at all, but I found that, other than corn on the cob, I don't add any salt to my food anymore.

Oh, yes. Mini mint white portions are very different from the "real" snus--the wet, salty, strong smelling and tasting original portions.

The only non-white snus I can tolerate is Thunder Frost mini (it's 8 mg, though), and I still have to divide it in half...

Swedish snus is not for the faint of heart.

But it keeps me out of trouble...

You can try dividing your portions and just rewrapping them in a small piece of a teabag.

aaaah. the mini mint's are a bit "american" for lack of a better term.alot of the non white portions are a bit weird at first as the flavor profile is not something most people are accustomed to.

Just give it a few days - after you get used to it, it's one of the best things ever

I started out with the mini mints and thunder frost minis. There's nothing wrong with them. Once I tried regular size portions there was no going back for me though. I was very happy when they came out with the general mint regular portions. Oh and also, a big HELLO to katya. Good to see you back in the smokeless forum.

Ummm....ok, I do not buy into the whole "just use it untill you get used to it" thing. General white portion or original snus is NASTY! The wintergreen and mint is tolerable but it is nothing compared to american chew/dip. The general white I used and still have 2 cans of (because everyone raved about it) tastes like a tea bag dipped in salt. I don't even taste tobacco in it anywhere just salt and tea. The sweeds have a very strange taste in tobacco. They must LOVE salt or something. I hope out of the large order of 7 different sweedish snus's I just made there is ONE at least that I like. Crossing my fingers, because If I don't like it I am not going to "use it untill I like it" no way lol.

There will be some you just can't stand. I never liked the general white either. A lot of people seem to like the thunder frost series of snus but although I can tolerate it, I don't really like it. I am used to the salt and the jakobsens ice fruit tasted like a salt lick. I can usually tell after a couple portions whether I'm going to like something.

Yes when I first tried the Gen WP I did not expect the saltyness. After a few portions it was actually the flavor that turned me off and not so much the salt. I can get passed the salt if it tastes like tobaccy! lol

The flavour vary greatly from different brands, I havent heard of those brands here in Sweden though but the "mushy" part is how its supposed to be, if theyre dried up that means that theyll probably not taste much at all and are generally unpleasant to use if not even expired.
