For the last couple hours I have been having a hell of a time getting rid of the hot leg to the positive post. The coil is not pulling the wick towards the post and I have wrapped and re-wrapped the coil in several different ways. I can't seem to figure it out. Any ideas?!?!

Have you tried pulling the wick closer to the positive post then pulling the wire/ coil. Or you could double twist the wire of the top leg to the positive post?
One other trick is to put a kink in the positive leg i.e. keep the wire on the wick as much as possible then put in a kink to return the wire to the positive post.

Also - are you making the coil in an 'S' shape to even the load?
