Hello hopefully someone can help out. I've been experimenting with coil set up on my aga t+ on my provari with 30 gauge A1 kanthal. I was wondering though as a general question on gennies is it better to wrap the coil on the wick prior to installing or after its installed. Also I've gotten better at oxidizing my wicks but I was also wondering if its better to use a hollow wick or a less hollow one. Which holds the juice better where the coils are wrapped? I use 325 ss mesh. Your help is appreciated thank you. :vapor:

I have had excellent success wrapping a #500 SS mesh while it is outside of the AGA T2. I use a solid wick. Using 30g Kanthal with a 3/4 coil, I get 1.2Ω reading from my provari.

Personally, as I have been experimenting with RBAs, I find that I prefer the lower resistance coils over the higher resistance ones. It's an individual preference type of thing. Key is to experiment and find your own personal sweet spot.

That will be a personal preference, for me, it's easier to just wrap it in the device. Put the wick in, secure the negative lead, and turn the Gen around in circles as I wrap the wick.

A solid wick in theory should work better, more surface area for capillary action to wick the juice up.
I've never tried a hollow wick, so, can't compare from personal experience.

I have always had better success wrapping with the wick already installed. Better control factor for me, esp. when making 6 windings and up.

I wind my coils using the 'drill bit' method, and then attach them to the atty. Then take my mesh and roll it up until it just fits into the coil. Not too tight, not too loose. This way I can remove the wick without disturbing the coil, dry burn only the coil, and clean the wick by itself. Get at least a couple of weeks out of the coil (3ml/day), and even longer out of the wick.

Some like the wicks hollow (like a drinking straw) so there is less metal to heat up. Others like them solid, as tightly as they can make them. I prefer them somewhat solid, but not all that tight. You really need to try each way for yourself, and find which YOU like best.
