I have a mini DID clone, and i am having a very hard time building it.
i have oxidized my wick, and gotten everything set up, and i get most of the hot spots out, but i cannot for the life of me get the coil to stop breaking in the space between the positive terminal and the wick.

i was wondering if this is a hard device to use? if so, are the AGA's any easier? or is there a simple way to get rid of the problem?

Hot spots are tough..they mostly happen when the top coil is loose on the last wrap....next time try getting it red color y pulsing the coil and use a small screwdriver and while its red push the wire tight against the wickand make sure there are no gaps between the coil and wick...that last wrap can sometimes become loose when tightening the pos screw...

I dont use my vamo when working out hot-spots. It fires in intervals of 6 volts on the off then 6 volts on then off. Depending on what your voltage setting determines how long the 6 volts is on or off, which puts a lot off stress on the top leg of your coil. Use something that fires at an even voltage to work hot spots out should help quite a bit.

No worries, just trying to help. I think the biggest problem you are facing then is the gauge of your wire, try 28, 30, or 32 gauge that should be much easier to work with. 28 gauge will offer lower resistances where 32 will yield higher resistances.

I too use my vamo as an intial check for shorts then I use a multimeter. Good luck!
