Greetings; I didn't get to do the vape shopping spree I was hoping for this Christmas -- no bonuses this year :( -- but I would like to get a decent Genesis-style rba. I've come across good deals on an AC9 and a Cobra. The Cobra is customized btw, with the hole enlarged (I didn't ask yet to what size).

Any recommendations between these two models? I've read the lengthy Siam Cobra thread on ECF (now closed), and people really seemed to like these rba's, but I got the sense that the stock hole size was actually preferred by the Genny experts. Should I avoid getting one with the hole enlarged (why does it sound like we're talking dirty whenever these technical issues come up :D)?

I've only owned one rba to date, a KF clone, which I liked, especially because the coils are easy to build. I'm hoping this is true of Geneis-style rba's too, but I would like to get one either way.

Thanks!

-- Glenn

PS: I also found a decent deal on an MMV did, so I guess this is in the mix too.

Personally, I'd go for the MM DID. It's one of my favorite gennys. As for the Cobra vs the AC9, it depends. They are completely different animals. With the stock air hole, the Cobra is a fairly stiff draw. The AC9 is a very loose draw. The Cobra is titanium. It's very light, compared to the AC9, which is SS, bigger, and heavier.

Thanks for the reply, Rule, it's very helpful hearing from someone who knows about all three rba's.

On the big Siam/Cobra thread I mentioned above, which started around a co-op buy and wound up with 2,450 posts, a lot of people talked about The stiff draw on the stock Cobra. Some of the genny veterans were saying that the stiffness contributed to the quality of the vape, but FWIW my favorite clearo is the Davide, which has a very loose draw. (It's currently my ADV device.)

I like the look of Cobra, and titanium suggests a good build quality. I'm going to ask the seller more details about the drilling. I assume it's not the wick hole that gets drilled out, but the fill/air hole, but I want to find out for sure, and find out the drill size.

I'm also going to read up on the did. Can you say why it's your fave?

Those that are drilling the Cobras are referring to drilling the air hole in the cap to loosen the draw, generally. I guess a few people have also drilled out the wick holes as well. There are 2 wick holes in the Cobra. Either way, I wouldn't attempt it, unless you have a drill press, and are experienced with drilling titanium.
I personally like the DID because it has a nice big wick hole. The threaded top cap lines up perfectly with the wick, when screwed down, and the stock draw is perfect for me. Replacement hardware is readily available, if needed; and MM Vapors is a good company to deal with. It's just a simple, single wick atty that works well, when properly set up.
