I got my subtank mini about a week ago.I loved it and still do but I just don't get what I'm doing wrong it looks like I have the peek insulator... I just am getting a cotton/burnt taste it's the coil that was already pre-built on the rba and I'm just threading it.but I've try almost all of the Japanese cotton and still nothing gross taste please help! Yes. The juice holes and channels are a flawed design. There are videos on disassembling and rebuilding the OCC coils that came with your atty. On the regular sized sub, the juice holes are 3MM. You can drive a train through them[emoji33] The RBA section is useless. Maybe someone has posted a solution but I'm not taking tools to it when you can rebuild the OCC coil. Here is a pic of a rebuild I did.

I haven't had any issues with my mini rba section. I didn't try the prebuilt coil, ripped that sucker right out. Put in a 2.4 mm 8 wrap 26 gauge microcoil at .8 ohms wicked with sterile cotton and it keeps up no problem at 19 watts. I do pull the cotton back from the juice channels after wicking it which I think helps it it keep up. The only negative I've had is I have to rewick every 5 fills versus every 10 fills in my Lemos.

To the OP, try a little bit higher ohm coil like .8 to 1.0 and after stuffing the wick down to the base, pull the cotton back to just slightly expose the juice channels.

Could be just the picture but it looks to me like there is not enough wick there. It's finicky

I'm no expert at wicking and will admit that freely... lol. But I saw a tutorial online for this rba that is quick and works for me every time. Feed your cotton through the coil, don't cut it yet. Put the barrel on and feed the bunny ears up into that. Cut at 1/8" past the barrel top. Lightly stuff the ends down inside and make a shoulder. Don't force it in, just lightly tuck it. I've had zero dry hits so far. YMMV. Good luck.

edit: I've been using the stock, supplied coils in the rba....both mini and 25mm, wicked the same as above. Dumb luck I guess.

What E-liquid Blend are you using? Very High VG?
Resistance of the Single coil?
Wattage being applied?
What is your coil height off the Air Passage?

Wick looks a little long - hard to tell by pic - could be blocking channels, reducing wicking.

Seems to me After Watching the Reviews of all three Subtanks by Pro's and Ever Day users, The tank WORKS.
However, the RBA section is designed balanced. Probably good for 70/30 to 30/70 mixes.
80/20 would likely leak right through.
20/80 or higher might simply need a drop or three distilled water to thin it enough to properly wick.

Second solution - Open the channels a bit.

* Flawed Design? :lol::lol::lol:
Flawed expectations

Good build video:

That's pretty much how I do mine. I just make sure I pull the cotton back away from the juice channel and it seems to work. I don't run mine above about 20 watts, usually keep it around 15 and that gives quite enough vapor. I have to rewick mine about every couple of tanks because the juice I use really gunks it up - very sweet.

Plus the deck screws are stupidly small. The rba is worthless. So much better gear available. One man's opine, ion...

The subtank isn't supposed to be better than a full rba/rta, but it's supposed to be a cheaper alternative to buying replacement coils.
The question is: is the rba head going to last longer than the replaceable coil.

The poor insulator fiasco already has me suspicious.

I had the same issue when I first used it. It seems like after 3 puff I've got a dry hit [emoji27] so I try building deferent coil but same issue. When I've seen rip trippers review and seen how he put in the cotton I've gotten less dry hit almost none. He puts in the cotton and leaves a space where the juice comes in ( I'm guessing that helps the juice flow there for less dry hit) so try it or watch his review on kanger subtank mini. Hope that helped [emoji1]

Try rayon, rather than cotton, it wicks MUCH better.
Woww thank you so much IMO I think it is possible with cotton just have to perfect the cotton but man were you right....this might sound goofy a little but...I took a tampon and just used the rayon at the end. It had some type or material over it but that just unwrapped then...I was looking at the box it said rayon/cotton fibers and all. so I was kind of skeptical about it but then did a little research and I was reading that other people have tried this to. of course the link was a few years ago but I gave it a shot as it looked just like rayon. Well anyways .5 prebuilt rba coil is vapeing like a charm such great flavor and no dry hits.of course I'll go get a box of rayon but I didn't wanna go buy it unless I new it was gunna work! wicked it right the first trylol

I bought the mini sub tank and had the same problem, the rba part just would not wick fast enough and I had way too many dry hits.
I figured i allready spent the money on it and cant return it so i took a drill bit, drill press, and about 10 minutes later this thing wicks like a champ.
Factory juice holes were just not big enough for high vg juice.

Please elaborate on the modification you've made. Size drill bit and such. Thanks!
