So I saw Morandir had a thread on reintroductions not too long ago. I've seen a lot of new additions to the V4L Family lately too (which I love)! So I want to share this blog post with you guys so you can get to know (or get to "re-know") BHam!

So, I’ve been working for Vapor4Life for a little over two years now, and I’ve come a very long way from when I started. A few days ago, I was thinking about my journey and how much I owe my life to Vapor4Life. For those of you who don’t know my story, I’ll give you a little insight.

I started smoking back in high school, for a couple of reasons actually. I was playing football and half of my teammates also played baseball and would “dip”. I thought dipping was friggin’ nasty but everyone kept telling me about the rush they’d feel from the nicotine and how it helped them “go one more play”. So, my bright idea was to pick up smoking! But this wasn’t the only driving force. Around this time, 16-year-old Brandon was also seeing a young lady, who, how can I put this….she wasn’t so “faithful” and I ended up catching her with my neighbor one day after practice. Yeah. It was a rough time for me but I found my solace in cigarettes. My close friends smoked, so I figured, with trying to get ahead with a “rush” in football, and trying to ease the stress from my first major break-up, smoking was the key to my escape. If only I could go back in time and slap the hell out of my 16-year-old self!

In a few years, I was off to college. I kept the smoking habit and I knew things were bad when I joined my Fraternity and I had my first encounter with “Greek Football”. It was a league we had in the Fall with all the Greek houses, men and women included, on campus. As a former football athlete, I immediately jumped at the opportunity. In our first game, I could barely stay on the field for one drive. I needed a constant breather and I knew, cigarettes had got me. Could cigarettes really have ruined me in just a couple of years? The answer? Yes.

After I couldn’t take being out of shape, I told myself, “I’m getting off this crap.” (Don’t we all say this?). I tried the patches, the nicotine gum and even therapy! Nothing worked and the evil that is cigarettes still had control over me.

While in school, I was lucky enough to start an internship with Vapor4Life. As a smoker who’d all but given up on quitting, this all sounded like a dream job. My first day comes and already I was itching for a smoke. Finally, I’m greeted by the owner, Steve, and he hands me a bag of batteries and cartomizers. At the time, my first reaction was, “What the hell is this?” I was intrigued, but not yet sold. “These batteries and plastic stuff is supposed to help me switch?” I tried it and thought, “Oh man! Could this be my way of finally breaking the habit?!”

Eventually, I’d smoke a couple cigarettes after work and only 5-7 on the weekend. I was getting my nic fix at work, so why did I need to smoke? I noticed too, when I would smoke, I could start tasting the tobacco and the ash again. It was horrible! That was the day I knew I was done with cigarettes. I wasn’t planning on it, but I thank Vapor4Life for saving my life and helping me switch to e-cigarettes. I’ve been vapingconsistently for almost two years now and I feel great!

I wake up feeling refreshed again! I don’t cough up anything like I used to. I started working out again, in hopes of getting back to my track days. Vaping has given me a new meaning to life and the biggest gift it gave me was control. I finally feel like I have control of my addiction and I’m no longer a slave to cigarettes. Thank you Steve and Vapor4Life, I’m forever in your debt!

Thanks for your story. I still have 1-4 cigarettes a day which is much better than my over 2 packs a day I had not even a full week ago. I really think I can do it this time and your story gave me that new confidence that I needed.

Thanks everyone for the love! Don't forget, a lot of my success came from the support of V4Lers and our wonderful community!

Beachlover, I know that feeling. Just think, you've been smoking for how long? It's a habit that is REALLY hard to break because it just becomes a part of life like eating. I'll tell you what I tell everyone who's in the same boat. "Don't beat yourself up for still smoking". It's okay to cheat because like you said, you were at 40 cigs a day. And now you're down to 4???? That's just 10% of where you were and you should be EXTREMELY proud of yourself for coming this far. You know what helped break the last few cigs? Smoking them about half way down and tossing them. I was only getting 5-7 puff and *flick*. At that point, tell yourself "I'm not even smoking a full one now!!!" And soon enough it'll be 100% vaping. Just go at your own pace and never doubt yourself. You'll get to your goal, never give up!

I agree with Harmony, vaping is SO much better than smoking ever was! I love when my non-smoking friends say they love the smell of my vape, THAT never happened when I smoked ;) Soon I will be at 4 years without a cig, so all you new vapers, it can be done! I loved to smoke for almost 40 years, but I love vaping even more, just wish ecigs were around back in the 70's ;)

BHam, thank you so much for the encouragement, pep talk and tip. OMG I have been smoking for 48 years. I just retired recently, April 1st and I decided I wanted to try vaping once again because I didn't want to spend my retirement smoking like others I know and an added reason is I just got my parrot in July and I know it is much healthier for him also. I didn't realize I had been smoking for so long until I just added it up. I am going quit analogs this time...it is my main goal. I have been nursing my last pack of cigarettes and I hope to just make my self "suffer" and not buy anymore. Vaping is very satisfying to me and I even like it better than smoking. I keep telling myself why should I miss the tar and all of that other junk that is harmful to my body. I will keep you posted on how I do as you are so helpful and encouraging to me. Thanks!!! :)

Speaking from my own experience...you will miss it! Stay strong! You can do it! I also had to make myself stop smoking. It wasn't easy, but with a lot of determination and support it is possible. Best of luck!

Thanks HarmonyPB...I am just going to keep at it and not give up vaping at all like I did a couple of years ago. I keep giving talks to myself like my lungs look worse than my tobacco smoke stained walls and do I really want to continue that. I hope I have the willpower not to buy any cigarettes when this pack is gone.

Awesome story BHAm. Beachlover, I know what you are going through all too well. When I first tried ecigs I liked them, but when the urge struck I found myself relying on my analogs since that was what I knew. It wasn't until I was recovering from surgery that smoking made me sick. I forced myself to use ecigs exclusively, and found that it was easier than I thought. I didn't have the support of an amazing community like this at that time but my family was behind me and were so proud. All I can say is thank God for ecigs. :)

Thanks Jessica! Well I smoked my last analog that I have. I smoked it this morning because I knew I only had one left. Maybe I should have smoked it last night and start out with none this morning but oh well. Now I need to try and use my willpower later on not to run to the store and buy any. I mainly vaped for the last week and a half so hopefully that makes it easier. Since I have cut down so drastically on analogs during this last week and a half maybe it will and I will succeed.
