I'm not positive about ALL post offices in the US but something happened last night I wanted to share with the community. A postal worker was having a few drinks and handed around a petition to be signed to keep Saturday delivery. So much would be effected by losing it. Please, if you can visit your local post office and ask them if they have formed a petition to keep Saturday mail going and if they do sign it!! Thank you for considering.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I've found the USPS service to be anywhere from lacking to downright useless most of my adult life (and that's a good number of years). Over the last 5 years, I can't think of a single instance where I felt well served by the USPS.

As the USPS pulls back, I think one or more of its competitors will step forward. Pressure should be applied for legislation that allows other carriers to use our mailboxes. If the USPS can't find leadership that will bring it to a point where it can compete on a level playing field and also be at least self-sustaining, if not profitable, then it should fade in to history.

That's too bad your experience has been so negative six. I've never had any issues with them. I also find shipping with them to be a very easy and cost friendly process. It's really too bad maybe your post-office is not as effective as mine. Many people on the forums though do depend on the USPS from users to vendors so I figure it is worthwhile to help those who often use them to be made aware of the issue.

Sure one day other carriers may be able to use our mail boxes but then we may be facing monthly fees just for regular mail delivery. It seems like many may forget our mail is a free service. Polices do need to change in the USPS to help things get smoother that I agree.

Yeah, I'm going to have to step in and say I support ending Saturday delivery. It is expensive and largely unnecessary in a society that depends less and less on traditional postal service. Also, remember that every day of delivery is a day where virtually every inch of road in America is driven in inefficient Jeeps with poor gas mileage.

It makes economical and environmental sense to do away with this.

That said, I love the USPS. A recent shipment comes to mind where I got 250ML of DIY base liquids and flavorings shipped from Washington state to my home in Massachusetts. I ordered on a Tuesday morning and they were in my mailbox on Thursday. That's a 3/4 lb, irregularly shaped parcel shipped across the continent in 2 days for $3.

Ok guys, first off, the US Postal service can't NOT deliver. UPS and all the freight companies can refuse to deliver to any address. The postal service HAS to service if there is an address, they got no choice. That's how the big freight companies, UPS, FedEx all of them can make the money. They can say, "Nope address is to far out, out of our delivery district etc etc etc"
Postal service CAN'T do that.

Those of you who THINK the other companies will step in to these out of the way places, think again. No mandates there. They dun have to if they dun want to and nobody can make them. Might sound ok to those of us in cities, and larger towns but let me tell you, having owned a house in the sticks, one that the big guys refused to deliver too, life would have sucked .... without the USPS.

Something for ya'll to think about.

I agree! I got a shipping quote from that brown company to deliver a car part to a car forum acquaintance who was in Noman'sland, TX. The rural fuel surcharge was cost prohibitve to send the part.

Over the edge...
As a small business owner, I use the post office almost every day. I mail out invoices and receive checks in my post office box. Product is shipped to me by UPS and freight carriers. I also drop ship product by UPS but UPS, Fedex or anyone else can't take my invoice to the customer or bring the customer's check to me for 44 cents. Or even $4.44. So for the forseeable future, I both need and like the postal service.

I have some juice and hardware coming to me tomorrow from Texas here to Virginia via USPS. I paid $4.15 for shipping.

I feel very well served by the USPS. Sadly, Saturday delivery is eventually going to be discontinued. I can do without it, but I'll miss it. I will sign a petition if available. But Saturday delivery will go away to help the USPS remain (become) solvent.

I have to agree that the USPS is actually a decent value for me. I haven't noticed that much of a difference in shipping times ordering supplies using the postal service and a private carrier, other than the cost of shipping. And if the USPS were to go away, what would happen to all of our favorite vendors who depend on it? I don't know of any vaping supply company that could negotiate a sweetheart deal with UPS or FEDEX like Amazon.

oh i think about it every time i order something online !!! living in a sub-rural area we don't have delivery,,we have to go to the post office ,i am not complaining either,,i can get 2 birds with one stone easily enough

something else to think about [everybody] if USPS goes out of business who's gonna deliver our e-juice cheaply ???
huh ?? nobody !!! those other 2 are gonna be 20 bucks for ground, which is about the same delivery time too
for me ,,i would just go back to analogs ,,,68 bucks a carton would be a lot cheaper !!!!!!!!!
and if they don't leave the pack on your door,,then you gotta go to their business to get it,for me that is a 50 mile [one way] trip to get it,,,

bottom line,,without USPS a lot of us couldn't vape due to practicality or affordability...plain and simple be grateful for the USPS even with all of their faults

Woah, I hadn't even heard that they might be discontinued! Geesh, way to have my head in the sand! ;) Well, I'd sure miss it if they stopped delivering on Saturdays, but I see the rational argument to stop due to financial and environmental concerns as well. Bummer. I've had great and horrible experiences with USPS. I've also had great and horrible experiences with Fedex, UPS... all of em, really. I guess as far as life altering changes that might come up in a few years with the economy, losing saturday service isn't that big of a deal in the bigger picture. But boy. Bummer! lol

Actually, I heard on the news yesterday that the USPS's plan to stop Saturday mail delivery has been put on hold for two years.

They are going to attempt to implement other cost cutting methods before going to 5 day delivery as a last resort.

I don't know if a petition would do much good anyway........they are operating at 8 billion dollars in the red, so drastic measures will be needed for them to keep their head above water.

I didn't know the US postal service was thinking about dropping Saturday delivery. I think that's just insane. They already do not deliver on Sundays.

Your Jonesing, waiting for your shipment of e-juice to get in so you wont go next door and ask your neighbor for a cigarette - you know tomorrow is Saturday and your package should arrive - but whats this.. no delivery on Saturday? Now you will have to wait till Monday. Opps, looks like the tobacco companies are getting you back for a few days - will you be able to stop smoking again if you start.. Hmm.. Nope.. Saturday no delivery is a bed idea.

Bozzlite, That's interesting and I hope it's true. I'll defiantly look into that. Be it true, maybe the petition did help keep Saturday delivery after-all.

HeadLikeOrange... Wouldn't it be awesome if post office vehicles looked all futuristic and electric? Maybe the size of smart-cars? hahaha

I had the same concern as Phoenix I typically make orders on Tuesday or Wednesday soo much would be pushed to be delivered Monday. It would suuuuck.

Glad to help carpedbass :)
