So I normally don't smoke around my family just because it is a habit from when I was younger. Though my mom is a pack a day smoker for 30 years or so. Yesterday I went over for a visit and just happend to have my X2 on me, using it and out of habit stuck it in my pocket. Well because of automatic habit of using it from said pocket my mom saw it. Which this turned out to be a great thing! She was asking me all kinds of questions and stuff about it, asking prices, ect.. Needless to say she gave me the money to order a kit for her. I ordered the Volt cig a like version standard kit for 45$, a bottle of extra liquid and as a gift that she doesn't know about a normal carrying case. I plan on showing her how to use it, refill the cartos and figured the carrying case will make it easier for her to carry in her pocket. If she likes it and gets of the cigs I plan on buying her some ce3s and more batteries for a late birthday present. She wanted to try the Cowboy flavor since she doesn't want anything fruity and something similar to her cigarette. I did explain to her the difference in how the flavors will be and some other stuff so she isn't expecting the exact same taste. I am so excited about this because everytime my mom tries to quit she always goes right back and just maybe this will be the ticket.

Best wishes to your Mom. I smoked longer than her, and I quit. I know she can do it.

Ditto (almost 40 years -- started when I was, ummmm 3 months old, yeah that's it!)

Always a nice feeling to introduce someone to ecigs, and nicer still when they like it and it sticks. Fingers are crossed!

Great Job :w00t: If your Mom has a computer have her join us here in Voltville. I can tell you from personal experience that having the support of all the great folks here made the difference between success and failure for me. I had been trying to quit analogs for over 35 years and as much as vaping made it easier whenever I had a bad craving the support I found here made it possible for me to push through them. Sometimes it was just the diversion I needed and if you aren't careful you might even make a new friend or two along the journey!

My wife (58 yrs old and 40 year smoker) benefited from seeing how successful I was, and it works better as a team effort. She also loves new, different colors of batteries and diamond tips...to match various outfits and purses and shoes and jewelry...yeah, I don't really understand it, but them I'm not a fashionista. And various flavors help her more than me. So, perhaps the combination of your support, along with some fashion, will be enough to get it started.

Alright.. an update is in order. She has been trying but it is slow go because she isn't quite getting the vapor she likes but the main thing is the flavor. She isn't liking it very much. She is using the Cowboy 18 mg and I was wondering if there are any other suggestions? She does not want a fruit flavor and does not like menthol. Thanks folks!

Hey Blue - I started out with the Cowboy too, and it was okay but then I tried the SI Desert Joe and liked it much better. The only problem is you will get "lots" of suggestions, but everyone's taste is subjective. As I have read over and over again, there isn't any ejuice that will taste and act exactly as a tobacco cigarette. You might try to get her some sampler packs from some different vendors, many out there have tobacco sampler packs. I haven't tried numerous vendors so I cannot give particulars, however, I ordered a sampler pack from Halo, and my daughter loves like most of the flavors, I on the other hand liked some but wasn't particularly loving any of them. I also got a sample pack from Alice in Vapeland, non-tobacco flavors, and I like most of them and my daughter hasn't found any that are pleasing to her. Hopefully, you can encourage your mother to stick with it and find something she likes. Good luck!

it's not instantaneous for some people :) I agree on the sampler pack,,,,,then order the one she likes the best,,,,

is she ONLY wanting tobacco flavors? because there's more than fruit flavors,,,,,,vanilla, chocolate, buttery nipple (my fav), Irish cream, etc etc etc,,,,,,,

Best wishes to her! and what a great job you've done!

you might also try showing your mom a longer, slower puff. the puff you take smoking tends to be shorter,,,,,,,,with vaping, it's different, and many newbies instinctively try and replicate the quicker, shallower cigarette puff,,,,,,

the longer puff warms the e-liquid up a bit, IMHO, and you get more vapor. :)
