I'll be the first to admit, I do like the occasional commercial juice. I can't vape it all day though, as it is just too overpowering and intense. I would like to add some commercial styled recipes to my DIY arsenal though.

How would folks suggest I go about this? My first thoughts are high flavour (15%?) and 1% CAP super sweet.

Many thanks in advance. Naturally, I'll share my successes .

Cap super sweet will give you that sweet sugar lips taste. I personally absolutely LOVE it ;)

And from what I've tried, flavouring percentages are usually at around 20% for commercial juice.

There's a diy clone list on reddit that may give you some ideas

Iirc finding a pretty decent boba’s bounty clone around here a few years ago. It wasn’t even particularly complex. I generally mix around 20% for any fruit. They tend to be weak. I am by no means a flavor master. Quite the reverse actually.

Maybe do some searches in the recipes section and see what crops up.

    20% :shock::shock::shock:.

Wow. I better get this right - Otherwise I'll end up bankrupt very quickly. Some interesting pointers on Reddit though, thanks @AngeNZ.
I also buy cheap flavors though. I’m particularly fond of flavorwest because they have a company website and you can avoid at least one middleman. I get a 4oz bottle of flavor there for the price of a 15-30ml. 4oz lasts a long time, even at my higher flavor consumption.

Can't really speak to many Retail e-Liquids. Because I haven't bought a Retail e-Liquid in well over 7 Years. But I know the Owners of a couple of B&M's. And they All use TFA Sweetener in just about All of there e-Liquid recipes.

Might pick up a Bottle and see if you like it.

Just know that a Little Goes a Long Way. And that there is No Steeping Needed.

If you think that's high....check out many of Bill's Magic Vapor's recipes found within his Blog posts below. He was a commercial mixer for many years, and is/was a wealth of information on ECF for his recipes, tips, hints, how to correct for problems in your eliquids, etc. He hasn't posted on ECF for a very long time, but his posts remain, both in his Blog and in the huge TFA thread (locked now, but still accessible for browsing).

I started DIY by making his recipes, following his tips, etc. I was used to commercial eliquids...so his high total flavoring % recipes were terrific for me! After about a year, I started cutting his % by about 1/3. Since then I've cut many by half...and the eliquids are still great, IMO. His recipes IMO definitely result in great-tasting eliquids, whether you like them at the original high total flavoring or you adjust them for lower total % flavoring. I particularly loved his Jo's Peach Cobbler, Lemon Meringue Pie, Flamingo, and his Vanilla Milkshake Base (a starter for many variations of fruity, chocolatey, etc. recipes).

    between here and there
Flavor West does have some very good tasting flavors, but, having said that, they are also the weakest concentration of the flavor makers most of us use. In order to taste the flavors immediately like gums, and some fruits you need at least 15% if not higher. To those who mix in 30ml and vape right away they serve the mixer well. But if you mix in larger volumes at this % say 100ml and up, the flavoring does not stop developing and you may find you will need to cut in half or thirds and dilute them back to a vapable level. Luckily its not hard to do. When I mix large volumes of juice I keep them in the fridge and they taste just as good as the day I mixed them(even if I end up cutting them in half.) FW Skittles(since renamed bc of name copy rights) on the other hand only needs to start at a 5% level or so to vape immed and taste good. Each flavoring has its own % starting place. Good to read reviews on the website you are purchasing from so they are not all a stab in the dark.

    just my 2 pennies.

    :)

Doesn't mean you have to go there - I don't  15% is my tipping point
My sister made me go up to 18% unless it’s take out or delivery. 18% is standard for anything sit down. I’m thinking this may not be the tipping point you are talking about though

Taste is taste (flavor?). I don't give a hang about numerical values. If it tastes good to the individual vaping it... then GOOD on them!

Whether that works for me, is a different matter.

DIY is all about fine tuning to the individual. I can take it, or leave it. That does NOT affect how it may work for anyone else. To those that mix a 20, 30, or more, percent; I tip my hat!. I am just too cheap, and stubborn, to mix at that percentage. That is my own short coming. Not anyone else's.

I will never judge what anyone else for what they enjoy. I hope others would show me the same respect.

I blew my tipping point out of the water today - made a mix that was too minty, decided to throw in some cookies and cream (fw) and wow! Creamy Mint Oreo's at 18% was born. It's very SWEET but good in small doses ;)
