LOL, then you can get nailed for assault, it would feel good, but she was the type of person to lay charges. No the best way to confront a bully: Ignore them, they hate that or go ahead and call the cops. Either way they normally become speechless.

I cannot speak to how the law is written where you live but where I am the wording in the smoking bylaw specifically mentions tobacco. If you are in a private establishment such as a bar then they certainly have the right to regulate what takes place in that establishment. If you are in a public area you have the right not to be harassed. You are doing anything illegal and if they want to call the police then they will learn that very quickly. Other than to ask them why it's thier !@#$ing business what you do, I would just let them argue with the police.

sorry to hear about your vaping woes, drakos. there's just no way to argue with people like that. even if the facts were slapping her across the face, she'd still twist her brain to suit whatever logic worked for her. i'm glad you kept your composure and didn't hit her, even if she was insulting and disrespectful. e-cigs just need more public awareness along with conclusive evidence that they are safer than cigs for the user and harmless for the bystander.

Sorry to hear about this Drakos, I would have been equally upset/...... if someone came up to me with that attitude. And, yes, the comment about "going back to your own country" was utterly uncalled for and downright racist. It's true though, it's now completely socially acceptable to vilify smokers.

I've become quite good at "stealth vaping": on elevators, hallways, and openly in public places. Oddly enough, I'm typing this in a hotel room as we speak with a strict non-smoking policy and a stern warning that any traces of cigarette smoke will result in a $250 surcharge on the room bill. Needless to say, I've been vaping non-stop since I got here earlier today and the air smells quite clean (fruity actually)!

The bottom line is that the vast majority, in fact almost everyone, are totally ignorant to vaping.

This reminds me of an instance that occurred at a gas station a few months back. My cell phone was in my car and I was talking on my bluetooth headset while gassing up. An irate lady came up to me and started yelling that I was going to cause an explosion and kill everyone there. I went on to say that I'm a Professional Engineer, working as a consultant for an insurance company, specializing in flammable liquid processes. Using a bluetooth headset at the gas pump is NOT a hazard. She wouldn't listen and threatened to call the cops and have me "arrested". I laughed and drove away.

Moral of the story: there will always be ignorant ...... that get a rush from their holier-than-thou attitude....

Sorry to hear of your run-in with a racist cakehole !!

Why don't people pick on ME dammit....... I don't look for it, but man.. I'd love the chance to tune somebody up for their "in your face" ignorance and unwillingness to learn something !!

I've always been a considerate smoker and chose my puff place away from where others may be bothered. Not because I HAD to, but it was just polite. I'd be sitting there openly smoking and have some .... hole come sit next to me (with many other spots available for them to sit) and start the coughing/whining thing to which I'd simply point in another free air space near by without comment. If they didn't move yet kept piping up (disturbing my relaxing solitude) I'd share some choice words with them because I sure as hell wasn't moving since I chose that unoccupied space for a reason and for peace and quiet. If I stood up to "enhance" the conversation (lets say), they would scurry off grumbling under their breath that they didn't win and get their way by "guilting" and ".....ing" me out.

But now..... (not like I'm out there looking for it), I couldn't get a self rightious soul to nag me if I tried !! <--- insert "slight" disappointment here, lol.

If you can back up your chit, I'd say politely try and explain and if they'll have none of it, just grin or smile and continue your pleasure of vaping away legally (this of course is if its outside in a public place and NOT a confrontation with a business owner on their property).
