Getting ......

So, I started out with an eGo - Twist and a clearomizer. Thought the Clearomizer was going bad so I bought some Cartos and an AGR+ tank. I got the tank and the cartos only to have my ego fail. went to the store where I bought it and talked to the owner about getting a refund and he said he would talk to his supplier and to call him back in a week. While I was there I picked up a new ego as I needed something to keep me from smoking and everyone seems to swear by them. Took the ego home and hooked up the AGR+ only to have it leak all over the place. I called the vendor back last week to find out about my eGo and he told me to call him next week. I have a bad feeling where this is headed. Anyway, tonight, my New Ego just fried itself and my AGR+ tank still refuses to quit leaking. I don't know what's going on, if the eGos the local guy is selling are knock offs or I'm just having bad luck but I'm getting real tired of it.

Hi. I am sorry that you are having issues with your equipment. It sounds like you are having cartomizer leaking issues. It is most likely that if your charger is OK and the correct one for the batteries that you have, e-liquid is leaking into your battery and causing it to fail. I would respectfully suggest that you may either be drawing too hard on the cartomizer, causing it to draw in too much liquid and leak or not properly priming it, causing it to burn through the filler material (also causes leaks) or running it too hot (too high voltage/power). The easiest way that I know of to prime cartomizers is this:

Drip liquid into the mouth of the cartomizer until the filler material is damp. Try not to let any fluid go down the tube in the middle. I rotate the cartomizer as I do this.

Let it sit until there is no liquid pooled at the top of the cartomizer.

Repeat until a drop of fluid comes out of the hole(s) on the sides of the cartomizer. You shouldn't have any fluid come out of the hole in the bottom of the cartomizer.

Put your cartotank together. Do not overtighten. I would suggest that you use a cartotank fill tool (I like the 'slap yo momma' style, personal preference) and fill the tank. Leave an 1/8 - 1/4 inch airspace at the top of the tank. Overfilling can cause issues.

Let it sit, standing upright, for 5 minutes or so.

Draw like you are drinking through a straw, not too hard. Try not to draw until the battery's cutoff < 6 seconds. Let it sit upright for at least 5 seconds between draws. If you get a burned taste, you are either running it dry or at too high a voltage/power (I use 8 watts with all my devices, works for me).

Hope this helps, there is a learning curve with vaping in general and each device has its' quirks that you need to get use to. Once you get familiar with cartomizers, they are wonderfully reliable (I get 30-50ml before they get tight). Sometimes, you just get a bad cartomizer, but I use Boge XL LRs and it is rare for me to get a bad one. Good luck and have fun!

I would suggest you first learn how to use a cartomizer, properly filled, without a tank om your eGo. If that goes well, and you get a sense of how cartomizers work, you can then transition to your tank. Tanks can be tricky and leak if you make a mistake. And if you get juice into the eGo button hole, you can kill the battery. So proceed with caution. And watch some Youtube videos about how to properly fill and use cartos and carto tanks.

Good luck.

ETA: Try cartos alone only if you have whole, non-punched cartos, of course! :D

The suggestions above are great, watching the videos can be priceless. I also agree that you should get to know your cartomizer before jumping into a carto tank.

Last thing you need is too much complications. You are quitting smoking which is a big stress on your nerves as it is. Take it slow, learn all you can about your battery and cartomizer. Once you get a hang of how to fill them and eventually get the hang of the tank, its one of the best most reliable systems next to lighting up.

Only problem you might have is if you use thick real sweet flavours or NET's (naturally extracted tobaccos)

I hear ya, I know there is a learning curve and I've been watching videos. The problem is I still can't figure out why this thing is leaking. Am I not suppose to lay it on it's side? That seems to be a big problem. As far as the oil flooding the battery and Frying it, I think your right.

And you're right, a lot of the aggrivation comes from depending on these things to get my nicotine instead of cigs.

still just pisses a guy off, having to dump more money into something that isn't working

maybe get a bottom or top coil tank to hold you over until carto tank is figured out....it's what I would do :D
but then...I'm lazy

Couldn't agree more. Cartos take some definite practice and technique. I'm learning them myself. ANYBODY should be able to fill and use a protank, for example. Come back to cartos later when you aren't stressed and want to experiment.

The Clearomizer is still good, I just thought it was bad. I still use it, but now I'm going to need a new eGo or at least another battery source

except for the leaking I preffer the carto + tank.

I also have an atomizer, that also started leaking. I don't know what that is about. It just started yesterday. It wont vape either.

Yes, let's hear more about your clearo problems. What clearo, what was it doing? I used carto tanks for a very long time, but switched over to protanks a few months ago. Carto tanks do have a learning curve and trouble shooting can be a pain. Clearos have I proved a lot since I started. They are worth exploring more, IMO.

The problem is that the AGR's do leak occasionally. I had two and found them an excellent starter tank. That being said, they do leak, and compared to a "real" carto tank like IBTanked tanks and Phiniacs, which I use every day, I've never had on leak. I'll take a good o-ring against the AGR setup any day, won't have leaks, and all is right in VapeLand. I learned the same way you are learning. The AGR looks good in theory, but is completely out performed by the better tanks. I think I use two IBTanks and Four Phiniacs now. There are many great tanks out there, these are just two of them. I also liked the egos, but soon moved to APV's as I wanted longer battery life. You might want to look at the iTaste 3.0, the iTaste MVP V2, the Sigelei V3, the Vamo V3 (stainless) and the SVD. All very good, and they seem to work every time without fail. Good luck and welcome to the Forum.

I did some quick research, It looks like you're not the only one having problems with that ARG+ tank.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ve-good-luck-agr-carto-tank.html#post10884494

I suggest you chuck it and get a better carto tank if you really want to go that route. I suggest you get yourself a simple Boge F15 carto tank--for starters. You can get it, fully assembled, for 4 bucks--and it comes with a Boge carto already installed. I've been using mine for months and it never, ever leaked.

BOGE F15 TANK CARTOMIZER 1 ML - $4.00 : VapeLite your source for Boge quality electronic cigarettes, Boge electronic cigarettes

And a video review--he's using f16--same thing, just bigger, because he's using it on his ProVari.

Warning--one bad word in the video... Sorry. But it's a good video.

That said, I've been using my Kanger BCC clearos lately, especially the latest upgrades: T3S and mini ProTank 2--less hassle and I don't have to deal with that polyfill that comes with all cartos.

Is the problem that it doesn't make a good seal, Bill? Almost every problem with leaking carto tanks that I've had is because of an air leak messing up the pressure inside the tank. Seems like if _any_ air gets in at all, you get a leak.
Correct... if you don't mind a bit of a read, I can explain that - in some detail.

I am looking at an itaste mvp 2 or possibly something else like a Vamo. Just leary about dumping more money in.
you won't regret the MVP. I love mine. solid, long lasting, hits great and plenty of functions.
do your research to find reputable products from sellers that have quality service.
obviously, your local vape store won't stand behind their defective product and purposely gives you the brush off hoping you'll go away.
besides, online is way cheaper than a brick and mortar store.
