Would you happen to know if these CR2 batteries are protected? I can't find anywhere on the page where it indicates whether they are or not.

They are not protected Suzi.

When the vapor production from the GG starts to drop off time to change to new batteries.

It's very noticeable when the vapor drops off so no worries there.

Hiya, Ms. Mamu.

I'm not worried about the vapor production so much as the scary things people say about using unprotected batteries. There's no need to worry about this, ya think?

Sorry, I should have been more clear.

It was my way of telling you that the "scary" things don't happen if you watch out for the drop in vapor production!!

If you overcharge or overdischarge this type of battery that's when you need to worry.

If you keep trying to take drags when the vapor production drops off, you're going to overdischarge the battery.

I'm with you Suzi...unprotected batteries kind of scare me, especially since I always seem to leave them in the charger for several hours after they're done chargeing.

I work for a medical device manufacturer and one of the things we stock are batteries....and Lithiums STINK when they vent!!!

Ahhh... got it!

But just so I'm clear on this, there isn't a protected battery available that works?

I don't know the answer to that. I never checked. I know protected batteries are an unch longer than unprotected ones and since we're using 2 of them in the GG to get 6 volts, I don't know if that would make them too long to fit.

I understand your concerns, I went through the same thing when I got my SD two months ago. I was freaking out about what I read, so I'm assuming you're reading the same things I read.

I just try to use some common sense with these batteries. I figure a lot of people have been using them a loooong time and you only rarely hear about them exploding.

moon - I have left these cr2 in their charger overnight and have had no problems - yet!

I know some chargers stop putting charge through to the battery when the light turns green so there's no need to worry about overcharging.

Not sure if the chargers with these cr2 do that, but I've not had a problem with forgetting to take them off the charger when the light turns green.

that's good to hear...usually I leave them overnight too, or all day but not like, say, 24 hours after they're done.

Before I went into the IT dept. at work, I was on the assembly line years ago and boy it was freakin' scary when one of them would decide to pop off...hehehehehe...and it would stink! Made me skittish, I guess ;)

Mamu sorry for the correction but they are protected. If you read the FAQ for this battery you will see that they are protected.

Exept this, if you look to the side of your battery you will see the cut off charge and discharge.:)

I charge them all night, no problem

Isn't that the recommended maximum and minimum printed on the battery? I have read that over discharging your battery will just kill it, no harm done (one hopes) but over charging or short circuiting the battery causes it to vent! These little green batteries look innocent enough but I don't want to charge them unattended yet!

We have sourced some new AA (3.7V) size batteries that are the right length for the GG Grant and should not not require additional spacers. They may still need 1 or 2 spacers on the slightly larger old version GG with the spring at the atomiser end, but on all latest updated GG Grants these batteries should be fine:

DealExtreme: $4.75 TrustFire Protected 14500 3.7V 900mAh Lithium Batteries (2-Pack Blue)

Just added a few to stock.... ;)

I just took you up on that offer and ordered a set and the charger! Will I get the new protected batteries and they will work in the charger??

The batteries I'm referring to are the ones that Suzi is asking about (see her post #2) - cr2 - TR15270 800mAh 3.0v.

These cr2 batteries Tim sends and the same cr2 batteries from dealextreme.com are not protected.

haha back to normal self :D I don't know f you got my email yet :D The spare part arrived but the part had escaped from the envelope, my dad opened it so it either got out when the Royal mail decided to play football or my dad opened it not expecting a metal piece in there!! Luckily this morning I ventured off to Dealextreme and bought this! DealExtreme: $11.54 UltraFire 3.0V/3.6V CR123A Charger along with some rare earth magnets to make them fit if they don't already hehe! As a nice little bonus, perhaps these rare earth magnets will solve my little spring problem!

So now I have 3 chances of being in GG heaven! I have my new 3.7 volt batteries and charger for a long vape on their way, the rare earth magnets to get my existing CR2 charger going and a new CR2 charger that may or may not need the magnets! Maybe things are looking up :D I should have bought a battery case but I forgot ohh well :)
