I have been wondering about that, if some kind of resistor could be used in a different collection tank base -- it would be a major overhaul (the pin would be different but it could just be an adjustable screw on top of the redesigned cap) BUT if you did it right it could just be a replacement part for existing GGTS. It would need to be maybe about 25mm in length and it could even have a dial for VV -- I think it could be done but electronics aren't my thing.

Just thought I'd drop by and let you know that I tried Imeo's suggestion and wrapped two springs together. I had some initial concerns as to whether it would actually provide the proper protection, but it worked just great. Pictured is the end result of my results of what a bad battery did to my double spring.
