Figured I'd go to the experts with this one... Just got a GGTS yesterday. Loving it so far -- been using it along with a Penelope and it's really making me impatient for my Ithaka.

Anyway, here's the problem... The switch is really touchy. To get it to work, I basically have to screw it all the way down until it turns on, then back it out very slightly and tighten it down. The throw on the switch ends up being extremely short to the point that the slightest brush of it makes it turn on. Even then, I find myself having to do things like push it sideways to get it to kick in a lot of the time. It's been very hit-or-miss.

I'm a little baffled. I've looked at how the switch works and it seems really simple. I'm really not sure why it's acting up like this. Any suggestions?

Take it apart and clean/ polish everything, including the spring and inside wall of the button housing.

The latest buttons are all brass, except for possiby the button head and make a big difference in performance. If your having to put side pressure on it to get it to fire then most likely , it's dirty/oxidized, and or the spring and pin are not brass.
You should upgrade all conductors to brass when you can.

Congratulations for your purchase my friend IM:)
Check from time to time the axis that is attached to the venting cap and the pin of the button. You will see a small black spot on both of them. Take a very fine sandpaper and sand those surfaces. It will fire exellent again

And if it fires with a soft touch then extend the spring of the button.

Thanks, everyone. Between tightening the post in the cap and cleaning the threads and button, I'm able to move the switch out to a better position now, and it's working perfectly.

This GGTS really is beautiful and I'm in awe of the craftsmanship, and with the Penelope it's just knocking my socks off, especially now that I've managed to jury-rig the air flow control to work with it.

And Imeo, I don't know how you find time to help noobies with stuff like switch problems between cranking out stuff like this, but that's a kind of support you just don't get with other mods, and one of the reasons I just had to have a GG. You and your mod(s) rock.

Yeah, it's adjustable throw. And I think Billy set me on the right track. When I'd looked at it from the other side, I'd never noticed that the brass post on the .... end was loose. It's firing like a champ at the moment.

I'm glad that I was able to help. Also, take rivernuts advice and switch over to brass connects. I'm in the process of doing that myself. Thanks river.

I am glad that you feel that way IMT my friend.:)
I am trying hard to all levels. I really believe that the design, the features, the craftsmanship and the after sales service are one thing. Thats what I would like to have from the companies that I buy products. But it never happens. So I will do it for you and for me.
