I think maybe the anticipation of my pending order (arriving today, hopefully) is finally getting to me.. It may be the excitement of actually convincing myself that I can kick the "analogs" all together.. I tried to explain to my wife what this will mean, but I think that, after all of the other quit smoking schemes I've tried, she has taken a "we'll see about that" stance. She knows how addictive my personality can be and she's pretty sure at this point that I am throwing good money in after bad..

We truly shall see, but I am optimistic.. Here are some of my random thoughts/queries:

I asked for the 24 mil Kamel flavor (I think), but now I read that this maybe too strong for me.. Either way it sounds like (if it works for me) I'll need to immediately order some more cartos and juice.. Who's the quickest with shipping for KR8 stuff?

Already see I will need a PCC and a passthrough.. Can I buy just any KR8 passthrough and PCC, or should I contact my distributor (cigeasy.com) directly?

Anybody here ever heard of smokerettes? Looks like it's a company within 50 miles of here that makes a decent looking ecig...

I'll be back with more thoughts later, mean time:

What's the first thing I do when I receive the kit?

OK, I don't have an 808, but have seen nothing but very good reviews. I think you're good there.

The smokerettes thing... just from their website I would say stay away. Looks to me like another smokingeverywhere deal. Way too expensive for what looks like an rn4081-ish. It's an ok pv, nothing to write home about. And the whole 1 day sale bs? HUGE red flag IMHO.

Congrats on buying your 1st PV!! Worked great for me, (my 1st was the Joye 510), & I was a 2-3pk/day smoker. Take some time with it. There is a learning curve here. New ways to inhale, longer inhales & finding the right nic level are all things you'll learn in a fairly short time.

Hang in there and remember there's lots of folks here to provide support & answer questions.

And btw... Welcome... to the Revolution!

If it is the KR808D-1 type model then you will be able to refill those cartomizers quite easily. I started with that same model and I quit smoking instantly after 36+ years so believe me when I tell you that you can do this much easier than you may think! I also had a few who would look at me and say "Yeah right" when I told them I may quit using my first e-cig and now every one of them are amazed that it worked so well.

I think you are going to be pleasantly surprised at just how nice vaping these things can be. You've already won half the battle before your e-cig has even arrived with your positive attitude. All you have to do is train your brain to accept vaping as your new smoking and the rest is gravy!

Good Luck and be sure to let us know how you do with your new PV!

Thank you all so much for a warm welcome..

I agree that a positive attitude will help (though it wasn't enough when attempting to quit via the patch or the gum), and I also have figured out that I prolly need to go ahead and order some more cartos and juice, as well as a couple batteries and a PCC..

I'll keep y'all posted...

I also hope your positive attitude will help you with your desire to quit smoking.

My own experience is very different. Before I got my first PV, I hadn't seriously contemplated that it would lead to my giving up analogs ... seriously! I'm a gadget guy, and had been smoking for 35 years ... but, couldn't picture myself as a non-smoker. I was just buying a gadget, which happened to mimic cigarettes, LOL. :)

I put the analogs down instantly! I mean, without having that intent even. Maybe I WAS ready to quit and just didn't consciously know it yet.

Anyways, good luck! :)

Both Vapor4Life and Nhaler have been extremely quick to ship my orders. I've ordered a few times from both of them, and they both carry 808 supplies.

A lot of the youtube videos for filling the cartos look confusing to me, all I've been doing is dripping 10 drops into the carto, giving it a spin in the little felt battery case (I didn't get one of those from V4L, but my girlfriend did, and I confiscated it.) , and then dropping 10 more.. spin it up again, and I'm ready to go. Takes about 30 seconds total.

There are lots of people that drip the juice.. wait, drip more juice, wait overnight... I'm not really a "waiting" kind of guy.

I ordered a pass through and extra batteries from goodprophets.com in the evening, and they were shipped the next day. If your order totals $30, they'll ship for free. I highly recommend them.

I've been using my KR8 for one week now, and in less than a half hour, I'll have experienced my first 24 hours without a real smoke, in many years. I use the 24mg and it's about right. I was a pack a day of full flavor. Good luck, and you can do it.

Also, I was going to order the PCC and instead, ordered 2 longer batteries which won't fit in the PCC, but will last much longer. I also ordered a vehicle charger so when I'm on the road, I've got the car charger, and when I'm in a motel, I have one for the outlet.

PCC's didn't exist when we started. We bought Kensington battery packs and ran our pass-throughs to that. See how much has changed in less than a year. Personally, I would look at the lovely big battery mods that are available. I like them because they really look nothing like a cigarette and I don't want people to think I'm smoking. JMO

First thing you want to do is plug in your charger and charge those batteries.

Absolutely crestfallen! The wifey got home first and checked the mail.. (she excited to be throwing out the ashtrays, though she still won't admit to it)

NO KIT YET!

Guess I've got one more day of being a full blown analog smoker..

I appreciate all the advice from the above posters, even if I don't reply to it specifically just know that I am soaking up all the info like a sponge..

Okay, so tomorrow is the first day of the rest of my life.. I can handle that. (I think)

I think I have taken to it pretty easily. I just got mine 4 days ago (joye 510 so probably different from what you are getting). Oddly enough, I went on You Tube and looked a the reviews of the e-cig I had purchased to learn how they were using it. That seemed to help with the (minimal) learing curve.
P.S I had about 4 analogs left in my pack so, I thought "I wonder how they work for me now". Lit one up took a couple of drags and put it right out. It was fraking nasty to me. And I have been smoking for 20 years.

If it is a two-piece model like the KR808D-1 then let me make suggestion or two to help you a bit.

Your new cartos (cartomizer with atty and cartridge in one piece) will honestly equal about 1/2 pack of analogs (regular cigs). A lot of places say a pack of analogs or more, but 1/2 pack is more realistic. Once they start to give off almost no vapor and begin to taste "dry" or burnt, then it needs to be refilled/replaced with a fresh one.

The e-juice in any cart or carto can only wick to the atty just so fast. I would wait at least 30 seconds, preferably one minute between vapes to give the juice time to wick onto the atty and to allow the atty itself a little time to cool down. A overheated atty does not provide the best vape.

When you attach your carto to your battery, do not screw it on tight - just good and snug with no extra force. Also, take a very close look at the threaded ends of both your battery and your carto. On the carto you'll notice either two or four tiny holes on the side of the threads. On the battery you will notice either two or four slots. (I may have this reversed) These holes and slots help with air flow through your carto while vaping. Now if you got one with a manual battery, that is the primary way that the air gets in. If you got the auto battery, then the air is primarily drawn through the open hole at the top of your battery (the threaded end). With the auto batt, you can just put the battery in your mouth and suck air in and the LED will light up on the other end of the battery. That's what makes the auto battery operate, the force of the air being sucked through it. If it is the manual battery, there is no hole and you use the button on the battery to activate it.

Anyway, what I always did was screw my carto onto my batt snug. Then while looking closely at the junction of the two I would unscrew the carto just slightly and try to line up a hole in the cart with one of the slots in the batt. This always seemed to assure me that I was getting good air flow (I had the auto batts). This would be even more helpful if you have the manual batts. Either way, make sure you don't loosen the carto much at all or you will lose good electrical contact with the batt.

And perhaps the best trick I learned about my KR8 was that the lighter I took a vape - the better it was. You only want to suck enough air into your mouth, just enough to activate the battery as seen when the LED lights up. I would take a light vape for about 2 seconds to turn the LED on, stop for 1 second and then another long light vape for about 4-5 seconds. If you are using an auto batt, there will be an automatic shutoff at about 7 seconds. Perhaps two nice light pair of vapes (one short then one long) one after the other, then wait about a minute and you'll be ready to vape again.

It won't be long and you'll learn your PV well. As I already said, I think you'll be very pleasantly surprised. I had no real intention of quitting smoking when I first got mine, I thought there was a lot of hype about these PV's but it really works. You'll see!

Hope this helps!

I've rolled my own cigs since forever and got through about half an ounce a day. I've been on e-cigs for three weeks today and haven't been tempted to go back to tobacco in the least. Naturally, it's early days but prior to e-cigs, I'd be strangling somebody by now. For me, it isn't really like giving up at all; it's just like gaining a new hobby.

I wish you luck matey and hope your e-cig does the trick for you. Even if it doesn't, keep experimenting. There's loads of different e-cigs, mods, e-liquids and plenty of things to try.

My fist e-cig was a 601, which didn't give lots of vapour inititally. After running the atomiser in and mixing in some VG and a dash of vodka, it was producing plumes of vapour. I then occupied myself with modding the cart with the Lipton's Pyramid Teabag. Lotsa fun all round! :D

My Protege arrived today and puts it to shame TBH but I was happy with it to the point I never craved tobacco in the least.
