I was watching a tutorial on making your own airbrush make-up (getting a machine in a month and didn't want to spend 20 a bottle on foundation so hello Ytube). And while most of you don't care about the make-up part of it, I thought fellow forum members might like this idea.... The lady mixes a foundation that is water and PG based and adds VG (glycerin) and more purified water. Then she puts little glass balls -cleaned with rubbing alcohol- to get the mix to mix completely. You know ladies, like in nail polish bottles only glass not metal.

I am sure someone is going to show me where this is mentioned, but I thought I would bring it up to people that haven't thought of it before, or newbies like me!

-and the glass balls are bigger than nail polish bottles, just wanted to give a visual reference.

I'm not trying to be anybody's mom or anything but I would discourage you from doing that. Glass beads are a fine sandblasting media and I imagine they'd work great for other things but I wouldn't use them in anything that would be ingested or inhaled. Glass does tend to degrade when..tumbled (for lack of a better word atm) and leaves microscopic fractures which will then leave microscopic particles. Chances are fairly good that they wouldn't make it to your lungs but they'd still linger in your bottle of liquid, your tank, etc.

Well then, I guess steel balls would be good. Everyone that has body piercings have these and it doesn't cause problems touching the skin all the time. RIGHT? This is just touching the juice.

I like new approaches...

Can you post a link to this? I'd sure like to become more familiar with this process. I'm working on the magnetic spin table and stir bar idea right now.

Check out my blogs and you will see that I am a "tools" kinda guy.

The nail polish is very thick and needs an agitator of sorts which is why they use balls. Most ejuice aside from pure VG (which can be heated to thin out) should be thin enough to shake fairly well without the need of beads. Never fill your bottles to the top the more space in the neck the better things will mix. And you can get a hand frother for $5 on Amazon that will do a better job then beads ever could. And if your super .... about the mixing then buy an Ultrasonic Cleaner. I tried the UC method and it was a PITA in contrast (IMHO) to the frother which is by far cheaper and introduces lots of air/oxygen that helps to speed up oxidation.

Are you using a purchased stir bar or making one??
I have a half inch one for using in small bottles, been wondering about what to use to make a little thicker half inch one....

Actually, I am cheating with the stir bar. My son is a chemist and is bringing me a selection of (store bought) "worn-out" ones from his work.

I am looking at the you-tube videos that use a computer power supply fan and such for the turntable... Tear apart an old hard disk drive to get a strong magnet... Replace the bedroom overhead light dimmer to get a motor speed control...

I'll post a little movie as soon as I get it functional...

Disassembling the household fixtures to mix your liquid - your level of dedication is unmatched. :)
