One of the true costs of rural life is the unbelievable price of staying connected. My extended family has 5 smartphones and 2 (+2) tablets on a 30 gig shared data plan... we're paying around $325 for that. Ouch, but it's really the only game in town as we don't have Sprint or Cricket or T-Mobile available in our area.2/18

Afternoon treefam! I spent the morning on the phone/ computer chat with Comcast. I went to pay my bill this morning and my promotion had run out they jacked my bill up to $160 a month for just cable and internet. I called and told them to cancel everything and they gave me a deal for home phone, cable plus HBO and Showtime, and faster internet for $115 a month. I hate comcast but I took the deal. [emoji38] Then after all that, the stupid phone didn't activate so I had to chat with online support for 30 mins while they tried to get it all worked out. Finally got it done and I'm good to go for another 2 years.
Ice is still on the ground and schools are still closed. It's warmed up to 31 today. I'm sick of ice, my yard is covered in it.

I went to the school this morning to deliver the videos for tomorrow's presentation. They looked at me in confusion: the assembly is next week, they said. It would have been nice had the told those of us working on it--the last email I have from them states, "Due to scheduling conflicts, the new assembly date is not until Thursday Feb. 19th. " Thanks!
The irony here is that these projects are for student assemblies on the three "values" they encourage the kids to uphold: Respect, Responsibility, and Kindness. My volunteer partner and I have seen little of each of the first two...Sorry Count, at least your project is complete!
