I posted a pic of a vertical coil in the Fogger a few days back, you must have missed it LD. I had it working just fine until I took it apart for pics and it hasn't worked as good since. Serves me right!

It's the same concept for a Protank coil, but much easier to re-wick. The negative leg of the coil comes down from the top, I just bent it way out so a short isn't an issue. I can't say exactly how much better the vape is, but since the wick goes outside the coil it would reduce "rebuilding" to just replacing the wick around it. The best thing for me is I finally have a 100% leak free Protank, thanks to wick being stuffed everywhere around the coil.

Here's a pic of very similar vertical coil for a Protank/Evod/etc, done by the fellow that started me on this path:
IMG_2484_zps5e55be46.jpg

Imagine a similar amount of wick (cotton or silica) around the coil just like this, stuffed into the the little cup from a Protank head:
IMG_2485_zpse9bf2beb.jpg

I put the wick in after the coil was in place by itself, just to be sure I could replace it easily. The little rubber grommet in the bottom is going to burn way before the coil is done, I'll deal with that issue later...

For anything other than a bottom coil tank, I prefer the "standard" genny setup. I don't have any issues with the RSST and SS mesh, wicking, taste, or otherwise. Maybe it's because I barely flame the mesh or maybe its the Ekowool sleeve and kanthal ribbon, I don't know. I'm having the worst luck with cartos lately, they all leak even with 2 medium sized holes and 100% VG. Only one hole in the carto makes it burn, so I don't know what to do. This really sucks as I'm heavily invested in cartos and cartotanks. I never had a stock Protank head that didn't leak until now, thus the never ending quest to find some kind delivery system that actually works dependably! :?:

Jpf some people are tinkerers some are not. I was fixing clocks by the time I was 6. Took my first tricycle apart x mas day ... Making a tiny spring is easy for me. Understanding the electrical part took a little longer. DH was a big help with that. I'm still wary about how high I can go with a 1.7 ohm coil. Plus 2 rule is good for me...

Boges have gone to shyte lately... My last 4 boxes have been off.

My VNcoil in the PThead trick was met with mixed results... Guess I'll have to try again. ;-)

My boss is giving me dirty looks, oh well. Schnarph have you checked your O-rings to see if they were leaking air? I use boge prepunched and then put 2 holes with a carto punch about 90 degrees from the laser holes, I use 65pg- 35vg juice and the only time I have a leaking issue its when the carto is worn out.

Thanks... I'm lovin it!
Set up the coil like I showed on the 91% if you wind on a 1/16" drill bit, the b it will fit into the air-flow port to hold it in place while you tighten the coil-legs down. Surround the coil with wicking material (cotton or hemp) so the juice comes from outside the coil and the draw is straight through the middle, like a carto.

It works on any of the kayfun style atties...

2: That looks awesome, nice big well and screws. What is the name of the RBA?

I am thoroughly intrigued! Thank you for the explanation and tutorial. I have to do a build tonight on the ithaka, maybe ill try another fogger build (id do it 2nd so that if i get frustrated i dont toss the whole lot)

for the sake of my sanity. which will be easier for me - 1.3ohm MC using 3mm eko (or cotton yarn) OR the vertical coil using what filler? (i have eko, silica and cotton yarn

It doesn't seem to be the o-rings, this has happened on 3 different tanks and one has brand new o-rings. Whether they are prepunched or not, I add 2 holes and get the same leaking either way. It takes less than one tank before it starts, newer Boge cartos or ones that are many months old (I'm almost out of those). This has been going on for a while, I just ignored it since it isn't that bad. It's only a large drop or so, but it takes less than an hour to accumulate which is pretty fast IMO. I had a much worse time with clearos up until now. :)

I was going to give a newbie vaping friend 3 boxes of cartos and a couple of tanks, but if this is how it's going to be I'll keep him on clearos. I'm not sure what I'll do with 60 questionable Boge cartos though...

OK... so when I build a vertical fogger ... am I to stuff the cup with, I dunno, a cotton ball, all inside the cup, around the coil?

How tightly should I pack it in there? Tight against the coil? Do I put any wicking through the wick holes? Should I use the impossible o-rings?

Is there a video anywhere?

Boardo, check out the interest thread for the Fogger V3. There are a lot of pictures in there...

I use organic cotton balls. Tight against the coil, mostly filling the deck. With cotton yarn I use less and do pull it out the slots a hair. Still tightly wrapped around the coil.
You'll be siphoning out the juice and adjusting, often while you try to get it right. It is worth it in the end.
Same idea with the 91% but a better vape overall.

Edit: I'm using 28g kanthal wrapping around a 1/16" drill bit. 9wraps gives me 1ohm, 10=1.1+ohm
