I posted a pic of a vertical coil in the Fogger a few days back, you must have missed it LD. I had it working just fine until I took it apart for pics and it hasn't worked as good since. Serves me right!
It's the same concept for a Protank coil, but much easier to re-wick. The negative leg of the coil comes down from the top, I just bent it way out so a short isn't an issue. I can't say exactly how much better the vape is, but since the wick goes outside the coil it would reduce "rebuilding" to just replacing the wick around it. The best thing for me is I finally have a 100% leak free Protank, thanks to wick being stuffed everywhere around the coil.
Here's a pic of very similar vertical coil for a Protank/Evod/etc, done by the fellow that started me on this path:
Imagine a similar amount of wick (cotton or silica) around the coil just like this, stuffed into the the little cup from a Protank head:
I put the wick in after the coil was in place by itself, just to be sure I could replace it easily. The little rubber grommet in the bottom is going to burn way before the coil is done, I'll deal with that issue later...
For anything other than a bottom coil tank, I prefer the "standard" genny setup. I don't have any issues with the RSST and SS mesh, wicking, taste, or otherwise. Maybe it's because I barely flame the mesh or maybe its the Ekowool sleeve and kanthal ribbon, I don't know. I'm having the worst luck with cartos lately, they all leak even with 2 medium sized holes and 100% VG. Only one hole in the carto makes it burn, so I don't know what to do. This really sucks as I'm heavily invested in cartos and cartotanks. I never had a stock Protank head that didn't leak until now, thus the never ending quest to find some kind delivery system that actually works dependably!
