I this wasn't totally gender based but know it came off that way. Both my boys cook as well as I do but if you read LDs posts on all of this you will see he seems rather inexperienced and for that reason should not start with a pressure cooker. It would be safer to start at crock pot and move up.
Sound advice, i dont need any accidents with the little man in the house!

I once had a pressure cooker blow up on me.....I wore out the little red tab and didn't know it.........beans everywhere...what a mess...but since then I always check it & make sure it's still good...........
that would be me too.

this morning, I fed Levi a large bowl of Kix. After one bit the bowl was upside down, in the next breath he unlatched the highchair tray and dumped it all on the kitchen floor.
this angered me.
haha

Fair enough, Joan. I wasn't trying to start anything over this. For the record, though, it was this sentence "Guys just don't need pressure cookers" that raised my eyebrows. It's really not a big deal. . .

Speaking of which, I was just given a 20% off coupon from Bed, Bath, and Beyond. I may actually use it to buy new pressure cooker. I know they make a lot of people nervous, but the newer models are really safe as long as you follow directions. And, yes, the nice thing is that you can cook a meal very, very quickly.

If your gonna get one, check out these!!
They are pressurecookers, that allow for the addition of wood chips!! smoke your food on your kitchen counter insanely quickly.
i have an outdoor smoker, takes 6-8 hours for fish, a ton of wood chips and annoying (because its propane) to keep temp regulated. This solves the annoyances of smoking outdoors.
id love to have one of these. a few diff ones listed, i'd pick for myself the least expensive one.

its worth a look, why lose out on the best functionality!?

Yeah... didn't think you were but it made me want to clear it up as sometimes I don't explain myself well. If you get that new pressure cooker, let me know what you think. They are spendy and I don't use one enough to justify the cost but they are completely different than the old style ones. My favorite appliances are my Breville elec wok because it gets super hot and my rice cooker because it makes great rice everytime and it sings those cute little songs to me :D

My last time through school I went to culinary school... didn't graduate.. had 6 wks and then 3 months of externship left to go but we moved to AK and just wasn't logical.

I definitely will let you know. Below are my reasons for getting one.

I am sorry, Joan. I didn't mean to pick a fight!

5. I love my pressure canner, I buy big pork roasts at 1.50/lb and can them, great for making dinner quick and tasty. I do the same with beef and meat sauce.

The speed is one of the primary things that I like about it. Way too often I start cooking very late. . . and then I end up eating at midnight (or later). Given that I don't sleep well, eating right before going to bed is not the smartest thing in the world.

I also just like the cooking method. . . nothing every dries out from pressure cooking (kind of like a crockpot!). Since I'm on a low carb, moderate protein diet. . . a pressure cooker just makes sense.

All of that said, I've bought way too many appliances and kitchen gadgets that I end up using once and then they collect dust. I try very hard not to buy things anymore (kitchen things, especially) without really thinking it through--especially when it's a considerable investment!

Okay, I am getting ready to go to the gym for the first time in, well, over a year! When I had my key incident the other night, I was right next door to my gym (coincidentally). While I was waiting for the tow truck, I stepped inside to verify that my membership is still active. Yep--I've been paying for over a year without using it even once! Time to remedy that.

hello everyone!

if you would, check out this site mixify.com

they are a big brand dance music company that offers various streaming services for djs and musicians.
they reached out to me to assist with a broadcast of a big dj from a private location here in tucson!!
Tru-Vibe will receive promotion and exposure the likes of which we have never experienced!!!

An amazing, and unexpected happening!

Went to the site - But I cannot see anything about "You" or "Tru-Vibe" . . . SO What GIVES ? ? ?

Is thee a special link or what do "We" need to do ? ? ?

thanks for checkin it out!

we wont be profiled or mentioned on mixifiy until the event is announced and our relationship confirmed. I am working on securing a venue today. i posted the site just to check out, i havent fully familiarized myself with it yet.

the project i'd be helping with would be a Club cast of a dj that is being played at 2 clubs remotely in Ohio and somewhere else and online.
kinda like a remote broadcast with lots of cameras, in which the performer can also see the audience.

Tony... no fight and I haven't been upset or offended in the least. I understand where you are coming from and NO you shouldn't be eating and then trying to go to sleep so soon afterwards... food feeds the brain and makes it not want to shut off for sleep. You have no reason to apologize. I thought we were just having a discussion...

Just like my wok and rice cooker... very few I would suggest them to but I love rice and eat tons of it. But few I know eat rice or want to stir fry so not good idea and I have those appliances you speak of too. My food processor is one and never thought that would ever be the case when I bought it. For me it is faster and makes less mess to even do cabbage for slaw with a knife LOL Guess I will go in and take the processor off the counter to free up the space.

You are right about the moisture when you use a pressure cooker... and they do cook fast but the only thing I ever use them for is gizzards, squirrel and when I make chicken and dumplings. I have boiled gizzards forever on the stove and unless I use the pressure cooker, can't get them tender.

So you exercised today? Maybe a regular exercise regimen will get you sleeping better... let's hope. Maybe you will get me motivated to try and find some sort of exercises I can do... I sure need it.

I hope Glassmanoak is doing well with his recovery and rehab. :nun:

The last time I spoke with him he seemed to be fine and now with having Internet available he should pop-in every now and then too and as he has been since the weekend . . .

As for Rehab - He is not getting that much to speak about yet given that there is still an open wound on his one foot that needs to heal before he can even attempt anything that would require him to stand . . . However, I know from what he is also telling me is that he is continuing to do "BED" Exercises (Take that anyway "You" wish . . . ;)) . . .
