IT, are you talking age wise??? I know someone who is over 60 and is now vaping.... there is a whole sub-forum for older people..It all depends on the person & if they want to quit......

I was around 60 when I made the switch. Just like anything else, sometimes it take determination.

So, on the topic of ecigs... when do you guys think that folks are less likely to try ecigs as a way to quit? I would like to get my grandmother off of cigs, but she has smoked longer than i've been alive. I'm 36 next month.

My grandmother is 81 years old and has probably smoked since her mid 20s. I would guess she smokes 3 PAD and pretty much chain smokes all day long. She's one of the lucky ones who seems to have minimal side effects from smoking. Sure she has a touch of emphysema and the doctor prescribed an oxygen tank and an inhaler a couple of years ago. She doesn't really use the oxygen though and only the inhaler when she has a cold or something. I can't see myself mentioning vaping to her yet. She gets pretty upset when people mention her smoking. I would love to see her switch to vaping, but at this point in her life, I don't see it happening.

I used her as an example for a while as to why I didn't need to quit, but then my mother (her daughter) was diagnosed with lung cancer in May and I could no longer justify my habit by saying my family didn't seem to have any ill effects from smoking. Thank goodness my mom was in the hospital so long with acute illness, she was able to quit her 2-3 PAD habit that she had for 40 years. If I see her smoking again though I'm definitely buying her a starter kit! Mom is doing great by the way! Just finished chemo and she has a great prognosis!

I was 67 when I quit my PAD habit overnight (after smoking for 55 years!)

To induce someone into trying vaping, vape in front of them, and "just happen" to have a Njoy with you. Once they see how easy it is to vape with an Njoy, you can get them onto an Ego with a tank of some kind.

The easier is is to do without a lot of fuss, the easier it is to get them off the stinkies. When I vape around people, they are always attracted by the pleasant aroma.

And Congrats to you, LSUFan, for starting vaping and for all the other vapers too!!!

Glad to hear your mom is doing good. Hope everything continues to go smoothly. Things like that are what scare me about that. Although she is older, I want her to be healthy as she can be.

I try to go through the oldest first. Trouble is I tend to stick with my favorites and all others sit.

Well - "MoringNite" - "Tree People" . . .

YES - COFFEE when first waking up is a must and then don't say anything (Okay - Hi/Good Morning - then shut-up) until I have MORE COFFEE . . .

WOW - You're Gonna' Be "36" ? ? ? Well - Congratulations & Happy Pre-Birthday . . . ;)

Now to the question you have - However, given the length of this post - some people may want to just pass this by . . . ;)

I don't know if this will really help "You" or not, but I am going to be very honest with "You" here . . . As someone, like so many others in this thread - I have been (and still am  ) a smoker for over 45 + Years, I can tell "You" that it is very difficult to say the least to try to convince anyone (especially someone older) that enjoys or is addicted to smoking cigarettes to quite smoking cigarettes . . . The worst thing for "Me" was people trying to tell "Me' something that I already knew - Smoking is Bad for You . . . DUH - like I never heard that before . . . Especially from people (even very close friends) who thought that I would appreciate hearing that they quite cold turkey/used a patch-pills and that I shouldn't have a problem by saying to "Me" - "If I can do it so can "YOU" " . . . Okay - Yea Right I am just like YOU - Thanks (now either shut-up or bug off if ya wanna stay being friends ) . . .

For "Me" and I only mean "ME" - being addicted to the habit and the taste of smoking - is what I find difficult to break, especially since it is a Physiological/Emotional/Physical addiction/habit - again for "Me" . . . Nothing has worked so far Patches, Pills, or Will Power . . . AND - To be quite honest, all I originally wanted to do was to just cut back on the amount of Cigarettes I smoke (2 1/2 - 3 PAD if Not 4 when something was really bugging "Me") . . . That was until I did the research "Myself" and found out I could cut back and possibly even quite smoking cigarettes without having to change everything else in "My" life . . . Particulary since I already have been changing what I was used to doing in "My" life for a number of reason that were beyond "My" control, especially getting older - besides other things too . . . NOT NICE ! ! !

Well almost - for "Me" and maybe your grandmother - Simplicity was and still is the main factor to get through this and make the Transition in the Vaping World . . . If it was not for the "eCig" look alike's (specifically the KR808 - which I still use most of the time); the personal story I found in the New Members Forum ( http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...grateful-any-help-advice-recommendations.html - which IMO everyone should read anyway and BTW: is where/how I became "Uncle" ), including some other people's stories that were similar to mine and were experiencing the difficulty of cutting back/quitting, and now thankfully that I feel that I can still find that elusive "True Menthol Tobacco" ADV - I probably wouldn't even be considering quiting smoking cigarettes - nor participating here on ECF . . .

Okay - Why Am I telling you all this, because even as someone who works as a "Counselor" and continues to do research and work in "Human Behavior Modification" - Had to be a caretaker for "My" Mother (for over 5 years - Who BTW Died within 2 months when I found out from her Doctor she had Lung Cancer - among other things) - Seen all the Info commercials, Lung X-Rays/In Bottles from Cancer, Worked in Medical Clinics for Women, Worked/Volunteer in Nursing Homes/Hospices, and have all the booklets about the effects of Smoking, and also founded and run a "Bereavement Support Group" . . . I know personally how difficult it is to convince anyone (and ironically, including "Myself") to change their smoking cigarette addiction & habit, especially when it means to them that they have to change everything else in their life too . . . AND - At this stage of the game called life - many older people ask themselves - WHY ? ? ? As I did . . .

Maybe - and only Maybe - I would suggest that the next time "You" and your family go visit Grandma - bring an simple look alike (I found that Smokeless Image's Volt is one of the best and more reasonable priced look alike "eCig" out there) - use it in front of her - let her ask you what you are "smoking" and tell her very little, except that it is a new brand/style of "cigarette" - then just offer to let her try yours (hopefully with a flavor that is similar to what she is smoking now) and explain how to use it . . . Then if she likes it, she will probaly ask you to tell her more about it . . . However, get ready "You" may have to purchase, set everything up for her, and keep her supplied too - simply because, to her, it might be be more trouble then it is worth and then to just go to the store to purchase a pack of cigarettes (as I stil do most of the time ) . . . Just Sayin' . . .;)

I hope that some of this was possibly informative and possibly answered even a little of 'Your" question . . . If not - Oh Well - Maybe the next person's reply will . . . ;)

(WOW - That took over 2 hours to write . . . Gotta catch-up with the rest of ECF see ya all later . . . :D)

I don't want to turn this all doom and gloom but I will tell a little of my story with my mom and why would you said here really resonated with me. My mom was working 12 hour shifts as a nurse at age 60 years old. One day in April, she started hurting real bad in her chest at work. Went to the emergency room and they found a 12 cm tumor on her right lung. It was pushing on her trachea. A week later, a specialist did a needle biopsy and told her she had at most a couple of weeks to a month to live. By that time, she was on oxygen. In a few days, she was in the hospital basically comatose, couldn't eat or breathe. We managed to get her to MD Anderson where a surgeon operated on her and removed the tumor the first week in May. By the time he removed the tumor, it had grown to 30 cm. My mom doesn't remember any of it, but my siblings and I took turns staying in her hospital room and watching her gasp for breath before that surgery. It took a week after surgery for them to be able to remove the ventilator so she could breathe on her own.

MD Anderson is a smoke free campus and me and two of my siblings that were there all smoke. I can't tell you how much time we spent in our vehicle in the parking garage smoking while Mom was in the hospital there. As much as I wanted to quit and as much as I didn't want to go through what Mom did, I still couldn't kick the habit. I told myself I would try when I got home, but then kept putting it off. Finally this month I decided to try vaping, and I can't believe how easy it has been to quit. I know it's not over yet, and I'm not out of the woods by a long shot, but I feel so great! I'm doing my best to help my siblings get started as well. They don't have much disposable income but they are all interested for sure. The funny thing is all five of us have been smokers, but one sister quit about 2 years ago. We never "allowed" her to talk to us about quitting. Vaping though is so different. It seems that most smokers are more open to the conversation and almost every smoker is interested in cutting down even if they never see themselves quitting for good. I think that's one reason vaping is a much easier sell than quitting cold turkey.

speaking of informative posts... I have another problem building up(yup i am full of problems this week)... I have been trying a lot of juices from other places and I seem to be developing a mouth ulcer/canker soar(I have spent lots of time today doing research about it). I know it's not from your juices, since it was one of the first I tried in this recent search, and one of the longest used ones...(I have not tried a lot of others until very recent)....This week I tried 2 others and last night it began..Today it is worse. I have to go get some stuff for it today...(I know this isn't the right place to discuss other vendors & if you want me to edit I will)...
But I am 100% sure it isn't from your juice, I am almost done with the orange dreamsicle & the chocolate tiramisu is 1/2 done.
I will be ready to reorder next month....
