... I just hope the FDA doesn't stick it to us in some way.

I believe they will stick it to us.
The Feds and the States like "their" money. When they realize how much they are losing, it will become worth it to legislate a vaping tax. We're a minority of tax payers and easy prey for them. It's not very likely that we'll be able to stand up to it and prevent it, or carry enough votes to hurt them for doing it. It will be an easy win for them, and non vapors will stand idly by as "it doesn't affect me".
The manufacturers won't do anything either. They will try to protect their business by not creating waves among the legislators who can easily legislate them out of business.
It will be similar to the new hybrid car tax (already pending in Oregon, Texas and Washington) that seeks to make up for the lost revenue in gas taxes from the efficient hybrid cars. They aren't paying their "fair" share for road upkeep.

They want you to quit smoking, not quit giving them money.

I think that sounds about right... the exchange rate from US dollars to euros used to be a lot "closer" but our dollar has been "losing value" versus other currency in the last few years.

Edit: I just looked up the exchange rate with a currency converter, and actually now takes right about $6 usd now to equal 4.50 euros... our dollar keeps dropping...
