i finally got it apart! I did the boiling water trick and kept unscrewing and tightening the delrin piece to hep loosen it up. then just pushed down the button and got a good grip on the magnet then started unscrewing the magnet part with some pliers and it came out without much trouble. that was after having it sit overnight in alcohol and then for about 30 minutes in acetone however. My magnet and delrin is mangled now though. but still working. they just dont look very nice. Now to get the magnet out.

did the acetone do any damage? from what i read you should be able to heat up the magnet, put it in cold water, and it should pop out.

im not so sure that the acetone helped out too much. it seemed like the boiling water really helped loosen it up. I wore some dishwashing gloves so i could hold it while it was still relatively hot and be able to get a good grip on the button and then used some pliers to grab a hold of the magnet and it unscrewed pretty easily. But, the boiling water was the last thing i did after the alcohol and acetone, so it is possible that it helped loosen it up.

I read the same thing. I torched the magnet and ran it under cold water and its not coming out. It has no magnetism anymore after torching it for so long so im not sure how its held in still besides glue. But even with a good grip on it with some pliers it would not budge. I have been using it though and i havent gotten any misfires so far. All i have done was throw an o ring on the brass pin to shorten the throw and torched the spring to reduce tension. So, i think that the loss of magnetism in the magnet after torching has helped to completely fix the misfire issue on it. I have also replaced the magnet on the top cap with a hot spring. No misfires so far in the past 2 days of using it.

Tried acetone for 30 minutes, boiled twice, then 91% isopropyl for 1.5 hrs. It seemed to go nowhere. Finally cut a deap slot with the dremmel then used a cordless drill and vice grips on the button and that did trick

I think once u get the the switch disassembled what ever adhesive e or locktite or what ever it was will wash out under hot water or break down when u soak it in a solvent, especially if u thread the bolt back in&out a few times while it is wet. There wasn't too much adhesive in there to begin with but it was pretty strong, which is why I had to slot the magnet to use a screwdriver to get a good enough grip to unscrew it. Without slotting it I don't think I'd ever got it to come apart last night.

got my sig #19b today. have to say the threads are rough/scratchy. i didn't want to use vaseline because it's flammable, so i used some noalox on the grooves. Put an 0-ring on the brass stem on the bottom (think that's where it goes. The bottom spring was still really tight for my wimpy hands, so i put a rare earth magnet on the bottom button magnet, and the throw is VERY short. fires right too.

i'll get my sig knock off volt tomorrow. Looking forward to higher volt vaping. I'm used to stacking 3.0 AW's in my P18 and 3.7 volts is ok, but hard to go back to. I'd have to roll some low ohm coils for my phoenix if the sig volt doesn't work.

so far, first impression = it's not a super t precise by any means, but then again it was only $34 and change shipped. Nice little mod with battery options as a backup device. may become my fav if the sig volt works

ps - no glue in mine thank god!! i got mine from akavapers.com

is the delrin piece able to come out without being damaged?? tried unscrewing it and seems like it's locked in somehow, kind of scared to damage it as I'm not sure if I can readily get the parts if I break them

the delrin piece is threaded into the bottom. i have no problem taking mine out, but then again, i didnt have to use any alcohol or solvents. nor did i have to cut a slot into the magnet.

The delrin piece has a ledge on the bottom that keeps the brass cup from falling out(and in turn keeps the delrin from coming out if the brass post is still attached to the button). You have to unscrew the button from the brass cup in order to remove it. I was able to disassemble mine last night thanks to this thread. It was quite a pain. I did soak it in rubbing alcohol and then acetone. A shotglass is just the right size for soaking it in. I put the bottom piece into a shotglass I heated the acetone to boiling in a pot of (makeshift double boiler). I'm not sure if all that really did much to help, I still had to slot the magnet with a dremel and really go at it with a screw driver. I put it on a counter with a rubber glove underneath it for grip and just twisted and pushed down as hard as I could.

Once the brass post/cup was separate from the button, I torched it over a stove, holding with pliers, and quenched in water to pop it out. Took me 2 tries. Just be aware that the heat will demagnetize the magnet.

So I disassembled the #19 brass/copper. I have to say that it was harder than disassembling the #19v2. I dunno if they used a different type of glue, but it was harder to remove and it's a different color

First, I boiled it in water for 30 minutes.

Second I soaked it in 99% isopropyl

Third, I slotted the magnet to fit a flat head. (Used a dremel)

Fourth, mounted the bottom cap on a vice-grip; used a kitchen glove for grip/protection.

Fifth, Used a electric drill with a flat-head screwdriver bit to undo it, it popped out in 3 seconds. (I tried unscrewing by hand but it wouldn't budge).

(different glue?)

I really wanted to try hoppes #9 but I've read that it is a brass solvent, and they didn't carry it at my local walmart (damn walmart).

hello guys, i figured out a way to get around the glued switch problem without needing to take it apart. all you need is copper wire, a knife and something narrow and flat. ZERO misfires, improved conductivity, so less voltage drop. sigelei 19 is now my favorite mod, didn't have to destroy the switch in the process! i believe people do a similar mod as the one i show, but they take the switch apart first. this only requires you unscrew the delrin a bit. hope this helps someone and saves frustration. so happy right now :D
