Hello ECF family,

So I just purchased a GMS - Vapor Life branded mechanical mod
One thing that I have noticed with this is that it misfires quite a bit
After taking it apart and putting it back together I noticed that my bottom silver pin is slanted
The assumption I have is that my pin isn't getting a flush contact with my battery
I wanted to see if anyone has ever run into somthing like this and what they did
My current thought is to get a "fine" file and get it down to a flat surface
Or maybe I just need to sand my pins?
Looking for some advice, any and all is welcome

The firing pins are all pure silver some like 90% of it

I actually went back to the vendor and they swapped out the top and botton for me
After less than a day it is starting to have to same problem again
I just find it really strange for a high end mod to act this way
Does anyone know if there are any clones of the GMS?

Did you ever deal with a misfire situation like this before or did you want to just troll about the pins?

I'm not trolling about the pins.

As far as the misfire issue goes, can you disassemble the button? The fact that it started out fine makes me wonder if the button and firing pin are one solid piece or if something in the button is unscrewing itself or needs to be pressed back into place. I did a bit of research and can't find much info on the button.

The button is two pieces, a copper button and the pin itself. I've attempted to tighten the pin down completely and losen it as well, both ways have been unsuccessful. I myself was able to find little to no information about this being an issue with the GMS. I sanded the contacts to see if that would make a difference, but no change.
For the most part the reviews I have seen for the GMS have been positive, nobody mentioned any negatives having to do with the pin/button
I contacted to owner of the store yesterday and they have me coming down to swap out for a whole brand new GMS, this time I am going to get the original GMS and not their store branded one

Hmmm... since you're getting a new one I guess it doesn't matter, but the only other thing I can think about (except just a faulty button) is that the spring somehow misaligns and throws the pin off. I've had that happen on my Galileo a few times.

Either way, I hope the new one works out for ya!

Just got the new one from them last night, still doesn't really hit when you push straight up, but I also did find out my IGO-W wasn't working to well with the GMS, sooooo I just bought a Helios lol

Nice! A Helios is my all day vape... and I want to order a backup pretty soon.

On my original Galileo, I sometimes have to push up and a bit on the side for it to really hit. It's not faulty or anything, it's just a byproduct of the design.

Seems to be how this mod wants to act as well, just like before worked throughout most of the day, but gotta hit it on a certain side a little to get a "pure" fire. Any idea what a short would taste like if I was to have one?

Depends what you're vaping, I think. Generally it's a metallic taste. I've never had a short while using silica, though.

A better indication would be if the button (or the mod itself) starts warming up.

Hmmm, I've had that going on a few times, a short would be in my build right?

Something like a short on a genesis isn't really a big deal. It's the hard shorts you have to be careful of, and that would happen if the wrapper on your battery tore and the body of the mod came into contact with the metal body of the battery. Also if one of the insulators (negative, positive, or on your atomizer) broke or tore or the likes. A hard short like that can be bad news, but is easily avoided if you take care of your devices and batteries and give them regular checks :)
