Ft. Myers here. Looks like we are now just outside of the cone. Hope I keep my power. Don't want to smoke a stinkie!
Vero Beach here, East coast. We went through Fran and Jean in 07. Broke my arm 3 days prior to Fran. Because of pending hurricanes, couldn't have surgery for 8 days past Jean. Anyone else ever try to put up plywood with a broken arm in only a splint?
This mornings forecast looks like we will probably get tropical storm conditions only. We can only hope. My ac/dc inverter should keep PV's up and running.
The "good news" is it's possible this storm will bring some much needed rain to the drought striken midwest.
Hollywood here. Have gotten some sections of wind and heavy-ish rain from the outer bands, but nothing much more than normal. Guessing that's about all we'll end up seeing. Oh well, I had today and tomorrow off of work, anyhow.

Glad to hear.. that is where my mom is, in Hollywood... The 15th and Johnson area![]()
I'm an orlando boy of 30yrs and it seems like with the exception of the three amigos we got in 04(charlie, frances, and what ever the name of the third one was), its like orlando has a hurricane forcefield that rarely fails! Although It seems at times, like some of our afternoon summer storms are as bad if not worse then tropical storms!!
From some of my FB feed.

I'm in Inverness, north of Tampa on vacation. So far Isaac has disrupted my travel plans twice and appears to a nuisance today and Monday. Oh well, hope there's some good fishing around here!

Jeanne was the other one and it was the worst one here. Charley power out 2 days, Frances 1 week, Jeanne 2/12 weeks.
The eye of two of them went over my house and Charley missed by about 6 miles.
And yes, some of the T-storms are just as bad. They just don't last as a long.
Seriously wishing I had ordered a car charger last time though. Wife and I have family outside Biloxi and all over NOLA and LA.
Hope it doesn't get too bad. Good news (I guess) is Biloxi really hasn't built that much back yet. Bad news is there is nothing
on the beach to slow down the surge. Probably cover The Point all the way to the bay and then flood the bay and creeks back to I-10.
A car charger for your ecig stuff? Just goto any car parts place and you can find power port plugs that have USB ports on them. Voila, car charger for your USB based ecig charger. I got even better when I bought a charger for my phone. Has a cable with microUSB of course, but the part that plugs into the car has a USB port as well. So I can charge lots of things at once now.![]()
So we are looking at a really bad week here on the (not so) sunny Gulf coast. Right smack dab in the middle of the "cone of uncertainty", but we have never had a direct hit. We do, however, always end up on the east side of the storm. The latest models are calling for a NOLA landfall. I don't want to wish it on anyone, but that works for me.
Stocked up with sandwich and snack supplies, 2-5 gal water coolers ready to fill, getting ice Sunday or Monday, and tomorrow I will begin obsessively recharging my batts after 5 minutes of use.3 sets for my I pro will last about 3 days, so there should be no problems there.
I may end up working through the storm, which would mean an endless supply of power. Definitely wouldn't have to worry about my batteries then.
Anyway, I know I'm not alone in waiting for Isaac, so I thought I would start a thread for my fellow beach bums. Who else is in the line of fire?
