So a buddy of mine that I work with tells me this morning that his new God 180s is done for! His cat knocked it off of the coffee table about a foot off a carpeted floor. It hit started to sizzle and smoke. Cant open it fast enough to remove the batteries since the cover is hex screwed in. after it all stopped and he felt it was safe, he opened it up to find the batteries shifted, part of the plastic sled melted, all 3 batteries vented, etc. He kind of cleaned it up put another build on there but 3 new batteries in, started to screw down the atty and as soon as it makes contact it starts to autofire. He also mentioned he found the batteries to be fairly loose in this thing when installed when he first got it. said he could shake the mod in is hand and the batteries would rattle and even fall out. Ill post pics shortly. Anyone else heard of any kind of problem with this? Do you think it was the batteries taking the fall that caused the venting? Or was it a connection in the mod itself that shorted?

I've dropped a huge number of cells on the flopr over the years and never has one vented. I'd be surprised if a one foot drop onto capeting damaged to any of them on its own. It's more likely that the drop shifted something enough to cause the cells to be shorted out. Hopefully the problem shows itself clearly when you look inside...and is repairable!
