I think I have decided on a VmodXL but I have a few questions.

I am somewhat confused by the options for attachments and not sure what direction to go. I have recently started direct dripping onto an atty and am really enjoying the fuller flavor and that is what has me deciding to try a bottom feeder as I find the repetitive dripping a bit of a pain.

In trying to do my research on this I am getting confused by all the different options so I am hopping that you folks can point me in the right direction.

What should I get to go with this mod? An atomizer a cartomizer? a hybrid? I really have no clue on these things.

I prefer a bit of a cooler vape So I am assuming I should get something with a higher resistance?

What works best for you with this mod?

My Vmod currently has an AvidVaper Cisco bottom feed bridgeless LR atomizer on it and I really like it. Granted, I only use this as my travel mod so it only gets used a few times a week, but that atty has been working like a champ since June. I believe they make them with in SR also. I tried the hybrid atty/carto that came with the Vmod, but didn't like it much (not a big fan of cartos), though it worked fairly well. Just remember that no matter what you stick on the Vmod, it must have the opening on the bottom to allow the juice to feed (ie, no sealed attys). Good luck and enjoy your Vmod.

Normally it will say in the description whether it is sealed or not. The way to tell by looking is if there is a hole in the bottom of the atty. You made a great decision in the XL. It is my all day vape for the last 4 months. I still have the same Cisco spec LR306 1.5ohm atty on it and still going strong. I have found this atty to perform the best for me personally on anything I vape. There is no maintenance to be done on them at all. When I first started using them I tried cleaning one with vodka and it worked of for about 2 days afterwards but then felt like it needed to be cleaned again. I think Avid has done something different in the last 10 months and they seem to last for 5-6 months now without having to clean them. It also has something to do with the liquid you vape as well. They have a tendency, (as any atty will), to not like the darker liquids and the performance is middle of the road. Also for people that vape multiple liquids. I have only 1 liquid that I vape 100% and that seems to work better with any of the atty's I have used. Vapage has changed the Hybrid atty they carry now to a slanted coil design and it seems to be gathering quite the following so far. Depending on how warm a vape you like would determine the resistance you should use. I prefer the 1.5 ohm myself, but it is not for everyone. I just don't get a satisfied vape with anything higher. My philosophy is, why try to fix something that's not broken. Please keep in mind that what works for other might not work for you.... Happy vaping....

Thanks for the info

I prefer a little cooler vape I think. I will definitely take a look at the LR306

If you are wanting a cooler vape -- you don't want LR. That's Low Resistance. Often 1.5 ohms. I could not handle the Avid 1.5 LR 306 -- I gave the spare away! I do like most any other 306 however -- 2.2 -2.5 -- what I learned was called RR (regular resistance) . The only reason I don't use them (306) more is that I prefer 510 drip tips.

The Vmod a la carte versions come with one atty and one carto. I think they are 2.0 and 2.2. It's a good place to start.

I am one of the fans of the new slant coil Hybrid atty and like the 2.0 a lot -- and I tend to like cooler vapes. You may like the 2.5 -- but I don't know if it's available in the slant coil or not.

I don't know if the new style slant coil atty has made it into the a la carte or premium kits yet either. Buy one and let us know!

Was it the version 2 or the original? I have read the original had problems.

There have never been any "too hot" problems with any version of the vmod that I am aware of. It would seem to me that the atty was off spec (too low ohms) or it wasn't being fed. Or, maybe using a carto without filling it first?

Heat is an ohms law thing. There are tons of ohms calculators on line where you type in 3.7 for the battery and the ohms of the atty and see what watts you are vaping. Of course, it's nice to have a multimeter so you can determine what your volts and ohms actually are.

I got it today!

Wooohoo! Got the battery charged and am vaping away! I can tell it is going to take a little practice but the flavor on this hybrid atty is awesome when I get it right.

Thanks for the tip on the gasket not being needed, I tried to put it on with it on there and it was very tight. I went back and looked at this thread and saw your post and took it off and all is good.

I am not sure how much better the flavor can get than this Hybrid atty it makes me wonder if if I should even bother trying an aero or a HH357. I guess I will see how long this one lasts, but if it lasts three weeks then i think this thing is a winner and will be hard to beat. Of course its just the first couple of hours on it so my opinion could change.

Anyway thanks to all the posters in this sub forum I am quite pleased with my first bottom feeder and you guys helped immensely in pulling the trigger.

Well glad I didnt buy one!

Yea I am currently looking into a bottom feeder. Kinda funny actually, I bought the Chalice BEFORE owning a bottom feeder, because I knew that I would end up getting one.

According to everything I have been told, the only possible way to put the Chalice on a Vmod would be to eliminate the cone part from the top, and screw in a 510-510 connector. That would cause the body of the Chalice to be what holds the body on the Vmod, and I think require you to actually squonk, as opposed to the normal tip feed action of a Vmod.

Sounds like a lot of work. Challice does look nice though.
