Hello everyone! After being talked out of buying a cheap Chinese brand e-cig I've decided to spend a little more on a quality one. Right now I'm thinking of going with the Joye EGO (not the EGO-T), from Liberty Flights.

Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Joye eGo

My question is whether or not you experienced vapors think that is "the best bet" for me. From what I've read it's essentially a 510 (which is well regarded) with a larger battery.

So I'd just like some "reassurance" before I make my purchase. I've also read about things like "drip" and "tanks" and don't know what thats all about and whether or not I should get any.

Another thing is how I will refill my carts. I see it comes with 5. Will i be able to just buy some juice and pyramid tea bags and refill those for as long as I want?

thanks a lot everyone!

I have started using the eGo after a year of using the 510. I dearly loved the 510, but for my money, the eGo is the way to go. I am currently using a 1000mAh battery and I have not run it down and I have been vaping on it for about 30 hours now (with about 5 hours rest for sleep).
Those 5 carts will come with material in them, so once you use up the liquid in the cart, you can just refill them with juice of your choice.

I pulled the battery off the charger over 30 hours ago, and have been using it fairly constantly since then, except for the time I was asleep. I am a moderate vaper, meaning I will puff on it every few minutes, or sometimes set it down for 30 minutes or so. As a comparison, a standard 510 battery would give me about 2 to 3 hours usage for the same style of vaping.

I think the eGo is a great starter kit, although I didn't care for the standard 510 atty/cart combo. They just won't hold enough juice for me but you can refill them as many times as you want, replacing the filler as needed.

I liked the eGo Mega/XL Type B (cylinder) attys. The carts hold 2-2.5 ml, although I did have some leaking issues. They're also great for dripping (dripping juice right on the bridge/coil and using with a drip tip/empty cart).

Boge makes a 2 ohm cartomiser that's very nice too.

The tank system is a set of a special atty with a needle/wick assembly that pairs with a tank of juice (no filler) that works very well for some. I tried one of the early Type A (cone) ones, before they came out with the Type B (cylinder) attys and didn't care for the type A, but I've heard they may work better now.

There are many, many options to try with your eGo, which is what I liked about it.

Actually, after speaking with one member I'm thinking of going with the mega t-rex cartomizer version

Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - MEGA T-Rex

It's got a larger battery, fits ego and 510, and comes with a cartomizer instead of an atomizer, which I have no idea what advantages it carries over the atomizer + cart.

The cartomizer has the cart and atomizer all in one unit making it a two piece cig instead of a three. Cartomizers are refillable and usable for various lengths of time. One advantage is the Boge cartos LF sells hold a lot more liquid. I have a T Rex battery, a 1000 mah Ego and several Riva 750s. Like all three. The Riva runs at a little higher voltage but the other two give me a looong time between charging.

Atomizers usually last longer than cartomizers, which are considered disposable. I get a couple of weeks out of one and toss it for the price rather than clean it. I keep a few atomizers around for dripping and smart carts when I want to change flavors. I also use Ego T tank system a lot. Depends on what I'm doing or where I'm going really.

Do you want something to emulate the cigs you are smoking?
An Ego is more cigar sized. Yes they have their advantages. Anytime you increase battery size, you also increase charge times.
It comes down to what you are trying to emulate. Cigar or Cig?
Since I'm quitting cigs, I opt for that size as best possible, and a feel to match.

I personally won't go the Ego route. I like hanging a e-cig in my mouth and puffing hands free. In a KR808D-1 or a 510, it's possible yet still heavier than a real cig, and you DON'T need to push a button to activate, yet they make those as well.
Both models work extremely well and excellent carto choices are available for them. You can run down the ohms rating and increase vapor, yet when run too low, you gotta watch for carto burn....same with an Ego.

I also like prefilled carto's, and the ability of tapping them up.

It is also quite a bit cheaper, very reliable and if you don't like the particular model, you don't have a load of $$$ invested and can experiment around.

Folks keep saying that atomizers tend to go bad, but I have yet to lose an atomizer. Of course I keep 3 or 4 in rotation, but still, after a hard 6 months vaping the first try, and now over a month, all my original atomizers are still working great. I have killed a few batteries in my day, but never an atomizer.

Ok, I'm sold on the cartos =)

Now I need to get some juice. About how many cigs can 5ml of juice get me?

thanks!

From what I've read, the average vaper uses between 2 and 5ml a day. But there's a big difference depending on your vaping style and equipment too. If I were you, I'd "guess" around 3 or 4 a day, and see how it goes.

You will probably need to order more than just 5ml of juice. Order several different flavors in 18mg or 24mg. At least four 5ml bottles. When you find one you like, order a larger size.

5ml would last me about 2 days, equivalent to 4 packs of cigs based on an old 2 pad habit.
