Hello Wizard Labs,
I do have a question, but first I will say that I am pleased with Wizard Labs and Wizard Labs' products.
My question is on long term storage of the 100mg nicotine.
I plan on buying one 500ml bottle of PG and one VG of the 100mg nicotine per month and I have plans on freezing it long term.
I know you recommend transferring the Nicotine solution into glass containers with airtight lids, but does this apply to Freezing?
Can I take the box from the mailbox and put it straight into the freezer?
Are not the chemically resistant plastic containers airtight, and have little airspace?
I understand that Nicotine in high concentration will slowly dissolve plastic, and PG will leach plasticizers from plastic, VG may also, but is this precaution only on shelve life or does this included freezing also?
Technically, yes, you can store the unopened plastic bottle in the freezer, but we recommend glass for several reasons, some of which you’ve already mentioned.
Although the plastic has good chemical resistance to solvents, over time, there is the chance of leaching plasticizers unlike with glass.
Oxygen permeation rates are also much better for glass than any plastic compounds.
The PET bottles we use are primarily for shipping safety due to their shatter-resistance and for short term storage only.
For long term storage, transferring to glass containers and freezing is the best option.
Best regards,
John MacLeod
