I've been a smoker on and off for the last 15years quitting a few times using the cold turkey method, patches, gum and chantix but none stuck more than about a year. It's time for me to quit smoking as we just had our first baby and being down to 1 income is making things really tight. I love to smoke, or should I say I'm addicted to the habbit and would love to move to something that doesn't stink my clothes/hands up as I try to quit. What I enjoy about smoking: Being social on breaks, getting outside, taking a break from sitting at the computer, the feeling of having a coffee and cigarette on a sunny day can't be beat.

I quit 2yrs ago for over a year after using chantix for a few weeks and then got hooked on cloves for about a year and just moved to menthols as smokes are around $8pk here in Seattle.

I think I'd like to use a menthol or flavored juice but have no idea where to start. I've read a bit about the 510 and am leaning towards that but really don't know if its the best fit for me.

Oh yeah, ease of use is very important to me, I don't have the time or the money to tinker around with a new hobby which I could see this turning into... :D

Currently I'm smoking around a half pack of Camel Menthol Silvers a day. I'm looking for an easy to use e-cig that can be charged at my desk while working. I don't have a long commute in the car as I take the train so I usually smoke a cig on the way to the train station, 1 before work and then 3-6 during the day, 1 on the ride home from the train station and maybe a few at night. So I'm thinking a long battery life isn't needed for me as I can charge between uses at work.

Oh and I've always enjoyed cloves and wouldn't mind trying some of the flavored e-juice. I'd like to find some with minimal nicotine and some with none at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. As of right now, I'm considering a 510 from liberty flights but am still not positive this would be the best choice for me.

510 is really nice with cartomizers - I use the Boge 510 cartomizers (you need the standard resistance ones on slim batteries). I strongly recommend manual batteries. Most people hear use and recommend manual batteries. Manual batteries give more control of your hit, won;t turn on accidentally from wind or vibration, and are much safer from being damaged or killed by juice leaks. 510 manuals in particular are totally sealed metal on the threaded end.

Downside of 510 is short battery life. 180mah which is 2-3 hours for a light to moderate vaper and 1/2 that for a heavy vaper. With the amount you smoke you might be OK with 2 510 batteries and a PCC, and safer if you can charge on AC or USB while at work (because it's easy to screw up with a PCC - like some, if you open the case you need to remember to restart the charge). The nicest 510 PCC is at NoSMokeVA.com (go there and search for PCC). But I do not know the brand of their 510. I recommend you uy a real Joye 510 if you get 510. Cignot.com has a great deal on a no-box Joye 510 kit (under $40). I use that PCC and manual Joye 510's w/ Boge cartos as one of the things I vape. I buy the Boge cartos (you need standard 510, not the ones that say LR or HV) at LiteCigUSA.net which is another place that sells 510.

There are also longer mega xl manual batteries for 510 but they make the 510 128mm long w/ a Boge carto. They have 280mah so 60% more charge life. Downside is the only PCC for them is a sharp edged metal one that holds 1/2 as much stuff.

And another popular beginner choice is KR808D-1, a 2-piece model (only uses cartomizers unless you buy the atomizer of another model). With a standard-size manual battery it is 120mm long w/ a carto and 280mah, same charge life as Joye mega xl. Only PCC is a flat case that holds less than the Joye mega metal PCC. In colors and w/ prefileld cartomizers, see Vapor4Life.com. For a plain manual black or steel kit see LiteCigUSA.net.

Another popular option is to skip slim ecigs and go to fat battery models w/ hotter hit and much longer battery life (Ego and Riva 510 etc)

Being a light smoker a 510 might do the trick for you, but how you smoke and how you'll end up vaping could be two different things. I bought a 510 and quickly moved up to an eGo (but I was a heavy smoker turned heavy vaper). As for nicotine, it's much easier to quit smoking first THEN start cutting back on nicotine. I'd worry that starting out with zero/near zero nicotine would be setting yourself up for a difficult time.

I'd go with an ego type battery to start, they will last you well over 24 hours per battery. With the amount you smoke you might want to go 12mg/ml or 16mg/ml. I would not start out thinking 0 juice will be fine because your body will still go through withdraw and you might just end up going back to regular cigs cause ecigs arent doing it for you. Still getting some 0 nic juice would not hurt to go along with your nic juice because you can cut down the 12 or 16 with the 0 juice to start weeing yourself away from the nic. Or just vape the 0 juice when you arent feeling the need for nicotine, the flavors can sometimes be more enjoyable then the nic lol.

Tasty vapor has a good clove juice from what i've read. Not sure how their menthol tobacco juice is though, mixed reviews.

I concur with my comrades a 510 KR808D-1 or an eGo would suit you fine, if you can charge from a PC or have assessable power at work charging won't even be an issue with the short lived batteries. The nicotine is the thing that caught my attention, as Shanita said, don't think you can start low or reduce your nic fast. That willl lead to you either turning back to cigarettes or chain vaping and your batteries won't last. Start around somewhere between 12 and 18 mg and slowly work the nic out or the cravings will get the better of you.

If it's your first ecig, and you're looking for something easy to use with lots of support, I would recommend the Apollo Extreme Kit. It's currently my favorite kit, and I have gone through two different 510 kits. It uses cartomizers and comes with high-capacity batteries and a car charger for your drives. I recommend going with this company because as a starter, you may have questions about your kit, and Apollo's customer service has been nothing short of amazing.

I actually wrote a review of this kit:

I wouldn't worry too much about what your first e-cig will be. Not that it shouldn't be a well-researched choice, but I would probably just go ahead with getting the 510 because it's a popular, tried-and-true model. The fact that it's so ubiquitous means that you should be able to find a good deal on one by looking through the supplier promo threads.

Once you've gotten comfortable with your first e-cig, then you'll know what you like/dislike about it, and will be in a better position to pick something that really fits your usage.

Joye 510 kit or and eGo/Riva kit for longer battery kit paired with a couple boxes of Boge standard resistance cartomizers. In standard resistance I mean to stay around 2.8ohm or higher. Anything lower than 2.8 could be a hazard for your batteries. Most vendors either list them as Boge 510 cartomizers or Boge LR 510 Cartomizers. Stay away from the LR ones.

For juice, I would stay around 18-24mg to start. You can always adjust the mg on your next purchase. Buy some samplers or 5ml bottles. Freedomsmokeusa has samplers in 24mg or all of their flavors available in 5ml bottles with various strengths. I would try some different flavors and strengths to start with. They have alot to choose from.

Congrats on the little person.

I don't have any model suggestions (new to this myself and relatively clueless), but did want to say that I have gotten a decent clove cigarette flavor by mxing Vapor Bomb's clove juice with a bit of tobacco flavored juice (probably about a 4-1 ratio, maybe?). If you find an awesome clove, though, please let me know! I'm still seeing what my favorites are. :)

I used a 510 for traveling (which is how I lost it) and then I quit, then when college started again I found myself stuck back at my computer, which made not wanting to smoke really hard. I just got back in the game again today. I chose the 510-t and I went ahead and added a pass-through (spelling?) to my order, because the problem was at the desk by the usb anyways. I am happy I got the t (tank) It seems other are pretty happy with theirs too. :) Good luck!

I've got to say, cignot has super quick shipping, I ordered Wednesday night and my kit arrived Saturday in the mail. I'm liking the flavors, they are all a bit sweet though - After awhile I'll have to start playing with mixing my own juice to save even a bit more money.... I have 4 cigs left in my pack and am looking forward to turning my head from analogs and never looking back for once. I always picked the habbit back up just having a few cigs while drinking. As I hate being a moocher, I'd buy a pack, not finish it that night and continue to smoke it till it was gone, by that point I was back to the habbit and buying more. I am looking forward to being able to take a few puffs with that morning coffee or while drinking and of course my favorite; while camping....

The E-Cig is just so much nicer, no smell, better on the lungs, less carcinogens, no more anti burn paper and the list goes on and on.

Looking forward to getting healthier for my 2wk son, his daddy needs to be healthy to watch him grow up.

Day 1 of work done, used the 510 every time I would have smoked a cig. I got through 6-7 cigs worth on 1 battery/cart which is almost to/from work for me. As long as everything continues to work as it did today, I'll be happy with this purchase. I've got the PCC so I'm thinking 1 battery, an extra atomizer and a few cartridges full of liquid should do just fine going forward.

This screams Pass Through battery to me. You can vape while you charge. Most will recommend a powered USB hub to power it as your PC may not supply enough current, but it depends on your passthrough. I know they're available for the 510 and the eGo. I'm a big fan of long battery life so I'd go with the eGo, but you may be happy with a 510. I'm sure others will chim in with other styles of passthru batteries they like; these are just the ones I'm aware of.
