After reading how often tanks are being refilled, I'm thinking my drive for the real ciggies is because I'm not vaping enough. Although this week I am seeing improvement in that one pack of ciggies has lasted almost 3 days! My usual was 2 packs a day, half smoked or burned up. I did switch fro 7 mg nic to 12 mg nic, but really cannot stand the peppery taste. Going to try 3 drops of glycerin to 6 drops of the 12 and see how that goes. I figure equal glycerine and 12 mg would be about 6 mg nic, so that formula should be pretty close to 9 mg. Am a nurse, so might put my nurse cap on and do a real calculation.

Welcome Isabelle,
If you like sweets, you might like some pastry blends.
The tobacco taste gets lost in the sweeter pastry juices I like.

And 3 drops of -0- Nicotine into , 6 drops of 12mg juice will make 9mg.

In the beginning I would by 24mg then cut it with VG.
You lose some flavor but you can always add flavoring to it.

Your doin' great with it, and if you like vaping soon enough you won't be giving much thought to cigarettes. Your taste buds will be amazed at that point.

Hi Isabelle, and welcome to ECF :)

You're doing fine! As said, try some different flavors. If you have a B&M close by, many have taste testers. Getting the right flavor (for you - we all like different things) is important. Higher VG blends will reduce the "peppery" taste (although a different flavor may eliminate it as well.) Starting at too low a nic level (for you and your smoking habit) might make it harder to make the switch, since nic vaporized doesn't get into the system as quickly as when burned. But it's also fine to chain vape through it. :thumb:

When I started I tried 6mg, and I could cut back the cigs by 2/3 but still smoked. When I upped the nic to 12 I put out my last cig. I was a 2 pack a day smoker.
A couple things that may help...

When I was trying to quit I used a cheap clearomizer/tank with the next higher nic in it. When the "itch" got to where the regular vape wasn't scratching it I would hit the higher nicotine tank once and go back to the regular nic vape. It usually took from 3 days to a week to get adjusted to the lower nicotine level. I said usually because I used this same technique to reduce my nicotine content in steps from the high level down to the under 3mg I now enjoy.

I kept one flavor of juice just for the mornings. Instead of reaching for the cig in the mornings I knew I had the one flavor juice I enjoyed waiting on me (a blueberry muffin type). After the morning vape I would not use this flavor for the rest of the day. What this did was to give me something to look forward to every morning instead of the cig.

Good luck.

There's quite a lot you didn't mention that might help out here Isabelle.

The difference between say 7mg and 12mg for taste would normally be almost imperceptible, so I'm wondering if this is the real issue.

If you are still craving, you might need to swap your liquid with another with more nicotine but with a flavour you can handle. No two are the same (not that I've found) and taste varies and is (of course) an individual thing.

I have lots of brands in lots of strengths, for example my top tobacco tastes the same in 6 or 12. Or my Cosmic Fog tastes the same in 12 or 18. Halo (Tribeca) is brutal in 18mg, so I dilute that down and so on etc.

How much are you vaping, anyway? Again... no two people are the same. 10 puffs is enough for me, but I sat with a vaper in the park yesterday, and she puffed without stopping for about 15 minutes, no joke (100+ puffs). She was a 40-a-day smoker, so I figure if it works for her, then it's all good. (If I was puffing that much, I'd go back up a level.. but I didn't suggest anything...you know.. :) )
