Good e-juice for cartomizers?

Hi,

I have a Bloog, and a Riva 510 with a bunch of cartomizers.
I like the way the prefilled Bloog cartomizers perform, but I'm not a huge fan of the juice in it - don't get me wrong, it's not bad at all, but I'm looking for something different, and shipping the prefilled carts from Bloog to Europe is a bit too expensive for me anyway.

I had some 50/50 juice that I liked a lot at first, but after a very short time the flavor seems to go away, and even after refilling, it doesn't come back (even though there's plenty of vapor). I'm thinking the juice may be too thick and it may be clogging up the cart, but I'm not sure.

I also have some high PG juice (80/20 I believe, but it may be higher). This seems to be too thin, and not wicking well. There's some vapor, but not a lot, and it also doesn't have a lot of flavor or TH to it. Seems like I'm mostly sucking air.

I currently don't have any normal atomizers to test the liquid with, all I have right now are the carto's.

Both liquids are from highly respected vendors - I don't want to name them since there's probably nothing wrong with the liquid and I don't want to sound like I'm bashing them - it may be something I'm doing wrong, or maybe I should be going with a different PG/VG mix.

Any tips? Anything I may be doing wrong? (I tried filling from both ends, condom method, a siringe, ...)
Any vendors you've found that worked well with cartomizers?

Thanks!

PG is thinner than VG, so higher PG% juice will work better than carto, but some claim it's by juice maker. If you are getting lots of vapor/vapour but no taste, chances are your taste buds have quit. About every vaper goes through this. It could take a few days for them to come back. Try different flavors, water, tea?

Well, that could be part of the problem, but it doesn't seem likely because when I try a new cartomizer with the same liquid (the 50/50), I do get lots of taste again.
I think I will try to order some 70/30 somewhere and see how that goes.

We're talking in 2 threads. If taste comes back with new cartomizer, then it means the other cartomizer(s) is dirty. Try searching for methods of cleaning cartomizer, not my expertise. Ultimately, they are disposable, so after a while...

Yep, I noticed that, thanks for all your advice :)
I know that the cartomizers are disposable, but they should last more than a few hours, right? I will try boiling them, but I read people use them for more than 3 days, so there must be something else I'm doing wrong. Maybe flooding them too much or something? Or maybe I just had some bad luck with my current liquids.

They should definitely last more than 3hrs. One thing to be sure of is that you're filling them fully first - there are youtube videos of various methods (pbusardo's method works quite well), and then keeping them wet. If you're vaping them for hours and then refilling, just dropping 3 or 4 drops in is only getting the top wet - try the "thermometer shake" to get that juice down in farther (over the sink at first, easy to overdo it ;) ) - you might get 3x or 4x as many more drops in on a refill. I rotate between a handful of cartos (I try a lot of juices!), and in general they last me weeks, not hours.

To echo what JustaGuy said, I'm also a believer in it being down to the vendor/juice as much as the PG/VG ratio - the thickest juice I have is Boba's Bounty, 100% VG, dark color, looks like it would be a real carto clogger, but it performs flawlessly in my LR cartos, dual coils, etc.

I can also confirm what JustaGuy said about it possibly being your tastebuds. I had a couple days of this really badly shortly after quitting smoking. Now, I find tea or coffee (or just changing flavors) helps with this.

In a recent poll on ECF (in the poll subforum), most people get at least between a few days and 2 weeks out of a carto. It depends on the brand, model and quality of the carto. I used some cheap cartos on a KR808 model e-cig, didn't like them or last long, but I didn't bother cleaning them.

Too much juice could flood the carto (no taste/vapor), too little also nothing. Batt not charged could also reduce both. But if you get plenty of vapor, no flavor, I still think it's taste buds. :)

I just tried a fresh prefilled carto, and it's definitely not the taste buds :)

I just ordered a sampler pack from Halo. I figured that since they offer cartomizer options, their juice might work well with cartos. The shipping to europe is also 30 euro (ugh), but if I like the juice I can order some big bottles and be set for a while. Still not ruling out user error with the other juices though, it might just be a learning curve thing.

So today I got my two replacement attys for my Riva (it came with duds) and I've been vaping the 50/50 juice with one of them, and I can confirm that it's not my taste buds. Plenty of flavor smoking it this way.
So for the time being, I'm going to switch to regular attys at home (possibly with blue foam mod), and prefilled carto's when outside - until I find a way to make the carto's perform like they should.

I am having the same problem . Mine seem to come and go but I smoked for 40 year's .

Glad you're switching, 30+ years for me. The taste bud thing is a mystery. Personally, I think we simply ask too much of the little fellas chain vaping and lots of variety. They take time to regenerate. Solutions offered include lots of water, tea, vaping minty flavor, etc. I find my taste buds barely recovered after a night's rest, but after a day of vaping, gone again.

Edit: Flench, after a few months of no smoking, you ought to be able to look forward to better senses, heavy vaping not withstanding...
