Just my 2 cents worth but the saying holds 100% true when it comes to buying e-cig equipment.. You get what you pay for.. honestly i wish i woulda skiped all my purchases and just bought the provari FIRST.. woulda saved me a ton of money.. but sadly i didnt.. Thankfully tho i did avoid buying the lava tube after reading here and on volcano about how " CHEAP " the mod really is..

I personally love my Lava Tube but I looked at it as a starting point for my VV learning curve. I did not want to spend the money on a provari not having any clue if I would like VV. Now I have a Buzz Pro on the way and am looking seriously at the Reo VV when it is available.

That's what I was thinking, good intro into VV PV. Not even sure if it's for me. Figure if I love it, the LavaTube will still do me well for a long while. This years Christmas wish list will probably be vape-centric :D

Actually the Provari is above your price range when you look at everything needed, although it's a fine PV. I prefer the variable wattage Darwin. It's easier to use, the ultimate in consistency due to the regulated boost circuit technology and has excellent battery life in the 21 - 35 hour range and doubles as a pass-through. And you can use 1.5 ohm dual coil cartos with it unlike many VV models. Comes with a standard 2 year warranty. But it too is higher than you want to go.

Good Luck whatever you decide.

Note: if you decide on a fixed volt model, I would go with the previous suggestion of the 5 volt GLV2. Comes with a lifetime warranty it is built so well.

I love my Darwin. It's one of my favorites. The only thing I would change is its aesthetics, but I had it refinished and painted so it's not too hard on the eyes now.

I love the 5v GLV-2, also. I have two of them and they rock for fixed voltage. Say what you will, but second to the GLV-2, I love my V2 Maxi Roughstack. Runs 3.7, 6 and 7.4 volts, durable as heck and lasts for a long time. I take it rock climbing and camping. Definitely my two favorites for fixed voltage. :)

As for the price, I think it's decently comparable. A satin ProVari starter kit with batts, a charger and extended warranty will run you $200, $220 with the extended cap, or $160 for the bare bones unit. Last time I checked Nhaler's going rate for a Darwin is $245. I like them both, and it'd be hard for me to choose one over the other. The only thing, in my mind, that gives the ProVari a slight edge is that you can bring extra batts with you, while the Darwin has to be charged as a unit. I do love the variable wattage/power function, though, and I'm extremely excited for the Kick. :)

All in all, OP, if you go for any of them you won't be disappointed. What turned me off from the Lavatube were the reported durability problems and issues with the automatic adjustment. If memory serves, GrimmGreen did a review on some of the Lavatubes' adjustment issues on YouTube. Very informative.

Nice post. On the Darwin battery, being able to get 21 hours of heavy vaping, I like not having to carry extra batteries any longer. Being able to use 1.5 ohm DCC's is also a plus over the Provari. Both are top of the line models.

Totally agree. The battery life is definitely a huge plus, and the ProVari is, to put it mildly, easily confused by dual coils. That's okay by me though... I don't really use them. But they're both definitely two of my favorite mods.

OP, where do you live? You might want to hit a vapefest if there's one in your area. Also check out the social section for a group near you. There might be a meet-up and you can see or try some mods.

I live in South Arkansas. Not alot of vaping love in the woods around here lol.

You decided what to get trio1980...?

Heck no. The more I look the more I find and the more indecisive I get. lol.

Have a buddy who is going to get a provari in a week or so. Probably gonna wait to try his out and see how I like it and based off of that try to come up with some sort of a decision. I have decided I do not want any sort of box mod so atleast I have knocked that style out.

Yeah I got the e power due to cost and wanting to get away from stick cigs. It has been great but I am wanting to step up the game some. Provari and Silver Bullet have both really been on my radar. zenesis looks great too... wow so much out there

Looking at this from the viewpoint of a man with a broken income (I can't seem to get it "fixed") I gotta ask: have you tried all the options available for your E-Power yet? I ask this because I'm using the same model, and I haven't. I'm still playing with the E-Power, thinking about trying a tank but not sure why I'd want one, etc., and been enjoying it since back in September or October or something. I'm thinking, if there's anything I need it to do that it can't do I should probably build a mod for that task. Meantime, I'm trying out all the other toys that'll screw right onto my E-Power, mixing new juices, etc. Man, this is FUN! :D

Its actually quite funny. I love everything about my e-power. I have some LR Atties on the way as I type this to test out dripping. So far I have tried a tank from Mad Vapes, Smoktek DC Carts, Fluxomizers, GV Sapphire 2.0, boge carts and tonight I tried a friends pumpcart set up (which is far and away my favorite so far). I can honestly say that direct dripping from his pump cart onto the bridgeless atty has given me more flavor and more vapor than anything else I have tried. I could see it being annoying without the pumpcart to direct drip every 3-5 hits but I have also found that I am a person who likes to flip flavors alot and dripping lends itself to that very well too I believe. Once my attys get here I am going to try those out for a week or 2 on the epower til my friends provari comes in and kinda go from there and see if I even have a need for a vv.

I also ordered a drip shield from empiremods. With the size of the epower and how they showed it working on an ego it should work the same way on my epower. That is my hope anyway.

If you enjoy dripping I suggest you try these: http://ikenvape.com/ikv-io6-xlr-atomizer-1-5/ They are little LR 306 atomizers and I've been using the same one for two months now. I bought it (just one) to test my diy juices, also bought a 510 1.8 ohm for the same purpose/on same order. The 510 lasted maybe a month, and the 306 got a lot more use even during that first month because I liked it better. Wish I'd ordered more of 'em! Anyway Happy Vaping!

Nothing wrong with a single battery boost mod if you get the right one. Most will vape at higher volts just fine if you have a good battery. The only issues that I am aware of that the lava tube has is that wonky protection built in so it see's stuff like a 1.5 ohm dual coil as bad and drops the volts down to stock volts.

My advice would be to not rush what ya decide on. Take your time and watch a lot of forums and youtubes. What would be ideal is a good size vape meet if you found once close enough to go check out things in person.
