`Disclaimer: i did not write any of what you will read below. I thought seeing as there is a lot of new vapers coming on here i thought this kind of information would be most useful, in fact we could all use a refresher course~

This is the same connector with the center pin removed. You can better see the rubber insulator that prevents the pin from making contact with the rest of the connector.

This is a cross section of the 510 connector from both a top and side view. .You can see the center pin and how the rubber insulator ring protects the center pin from making contact with the rest of the connector. .You can also see the threads of the connector which is the side the atty or carto attaches. .The channel in the center pin is where a wire would be soldered

.

This is a close-up of a cartomizer. .The center ring is the positive pole and the outside of the device is the negative pole. .A rubber insulator ring separates the two poles as well. .Notice the gap between the two. .It is not as apparent when looking at it with the naked eye.

When a cartomizer or atomizer is screwed into the connector the center pins make a connection for the positive pole of the circuit and the outside of the connector and the carto or atty, essentially the threads of each, make contact with the negative pole of the circuit.

In this picture notice the gap between the center pin of the connector and the center pin of the device being attached. This lack of contact will cause the atty or carto to not function. Because the center pin placement on different brands may not be the same, over tightening cartomizers or atomizers with a center pin that sticks out more than other brands may cause the connector, over time, to be compressed into the ring. . This could cause a connectivity issue with other cartomizers or atomizers in the future. You want to screw the carto or atty in until it is just snug. It only needs to make contact to work properly. It is possible on some connectors to adjust the center pin. This can sometimes be done by taking a small screwdriver and prying the center pin up. Please note that some cartomizers have a slot on the center pin. This is for air flow. If you turn the center pin with a screwdriver to try and adjust it you may break the wire connection inside
con6.jpg

Over tightening of your cartomizer or atomizer can distort and warp the rubber insulator ring of the battery. If this occurs the center pin may make contact with the outside of the connector creating a short circuit which could damage your device, batteries, and cause your device not to function.

I hope some of this information helps. Happy Vaping!

Fantastic! I've always assumed how everything works and fits, but seeing it all close and cut is great. The first bit of use I assumed everything had to be in tight tight tight.

Hmm, after revisiting all my PVs...riddle me this: Is a bit of wobble normal? Seems just about everything I have wobbles when it's in enough to make contact without screwing down tight (some more than others). Is there a fix for this? I tried the search but haven't come up with anything yet, maybe it's a keyword issue.

I'm not sure if you are implying that mad vapes didn't make that themselves or not.

Your article:
"Article "inside a 510 connector" thanks to the good people at Madvapes.com"

Madvapes updated their site somewhat recently, im guessing July 25th is when it was added to the new site. Either way, it's nice to see what exactly is going on inside one of those things.

What i was implying is exactly what i said, which was even though mad vapes created it, i had read it somewhere completely different....what can i say i get around  i did not mean that way either

The reference to the center being positive is true in most cases, but not always so. The coil doesn't care which side gets powered first. It will work either way, so it doesn't actually have a polarity.

Some PVs have a negative center pin and it does not affect the coil or how it works.

It does matter when connecting to a charger. Be aware that some PVs have a negative center and ensure that the charger does as well. Although it is rare, it is best not to assume that the center is always positive.

Not bloody likely!! That my good friend is a Newfoundland puppy, about to grow into a 175 lap dog :)

I never could get the breed's correct.....which is odd as i am more a canine type person then i am a cat person (let the jokes fly now), still he/she is a cute pup
