I was just reminded of a bad Karma event in my life but it was funny. My sister and I are always digging on each other even from 4 states away..

My cousin had a baby a few years ago that was born prematurely at 26 weeks. Baby Wyatt was in the NICU for a month before he was strong enough to have visitors. It just so happened that I was back home visiting when visiting was now allowed, so my sister and I drive an hour to the hospital to see our cousin and Baby Wyatt. Well, if you've never been in a NICU, it's scarier than it looks on tv. There's all this scrubbing and washing and sanitizing and booties and sterilized clothing preparations before you even step into the ward. Then once it the room, Baby Wyatt was hooked up to all these machines, wires everywhere and everything beeping. It seems at first the beeping is very scary but after a while you learn the beeping that means normal and the beeping that means distress. When a baby weighs 3.5 lbs, breathing can cause distress and cause the monitors to beep. Also a simple slight touch. I held the baby for a while, he was tiny and cute, but my sister was scared to death to touch him. After being out of the incubator for 10 minutes it was time for him to get back in to warm up. My sister is jittery so all the beeping was really messing with her. She was terrified to even touch Baby Wyatt. After a while love & curiosity got the better of her and she reached trhough the incubator holes to touch his tiny little feet...the monitor started beeping rapidly for just a second and in that split second meanness got the better of me. I startled her saying in her ear, 'DON'T touch the baby! You're stressing him out." as she jerked her hand from the incubator. My cousin thought it was funny, the nurse thought it was funny, even Baby Wyatt has a slight grin. My sister smacked me on the arm, hard.

Later that afternoon, we are going through the drive thru for foodies and I push the button on my electric window. It goes down. It starts to sprinkle rain as we are in the drive thru. Get food, pull out, press window button. Grinding, grinding, grinding noise. Window won't go up. It's raining harder. We have an hour to drive home. My sister starts laughing... "that's what you get for scaring me in the NICU. Karma's a b%^*#', isn't she!" P.S. Baby Wyatt is now 4 and doing fabulous!

Some people call it the luck of the draw and others blame it on Karma. It's all the same. Weird stuff happens to good folks ... and bad folks. We say it's justifiable when it happens to bad folks. We don't have a reason when it happens to good folks. I think the most likely explanation is that it just happens to everyone at some time. We all have it coming one day.

So true. Karma to me is like a superstition. Some people buy into it, some don't, some use it only when it fits their purpose. Me? I like Karma. Good and bad. It's a pretty word and a good reminder that you get back what you put forth. My husband's favorite mocking me saying is "maybe the universe is trying to tell you something, dumb girl" lol.
