How are you this chilly winter morning? Here the coffee's brewing,furnace is running,woodstove just get filled and I'm buzzing.Around noon we'll be off to the family Christmas party.

mornin' Fran. Yeah, I'm up. You guys are a week early. Buzzing a bit myself. I'm holding off on the coffee. I want it to be fresh for the wifey when she gets up.
We do this with the kids every year the Sat. before Christmas. 4 Kids,a dozen Grandkids and one little Great-Granddaughter. It's quite a crowd.
My wife has 4 sisters and I'm one of seven kids so some of our family get togethers are pretty epic.
I was a grandpa for exactly one week a couple years ago. My son and his girlfriend had a son that we never got to know very well. Our last name is Davis and my son, the musician, named his boy Miles. There's a tiny little hole in seasons like Christmas for us.
Oh, damn. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bring you down. I just type whatever I'm thinking sometimes. We have a big, close family and there's lots of love to go around here. Enjoy your Cristmas party Fran. Hug those grandbabies for me. They're precious.

I'm sorry for your loss Mist. Hopefully that big loving family of yours helps fill that little hole.
The holidays can be especially hard when you've lost someone very close to you, I'm sorry Mist. I love that he was named after one of the greatest jazz musicians ever.
Yeah, My son is a hip hop producer and MC that has roots in R&B and jazz. His music is NOT your typical Hip Hop. He uses sampled riffs from some very rare old jazz and roots R&B. His lyrics (rhymes) are very thoughtful and artfully written. He's got me appreciating underground Hip Hop. Imagine that.
We made a memorial garden inside the circle driveway in front of our house with dwarf perennials and a small flowering tree under which we buried some of his ashes. There are some wooden toys. A set of blocks and a small wooden train aging next to an angel with a watering can. He's always nearby.

It is interesting. So interesting that he has to work as a cook to make a living. The recording industry prefers easy to interesting. Especially the hip hop industry.
Yeah, he has a great attitude about it. He says he's just going to keep making the music he loves just for the love of it and if things ever break for him then cool, but if they don't then at least he has said what he has to say and some people dug it. I really respect that kid for being a true artist.
