**** SEE EDIT AT BOTTOM****
So after getting more and more into vaping everyday I've noticed that like many other hobbies this practice can be a huge money sink.:2c::2c::2c: With high quality materials and super machined parts authentic mods and RDA's can run you hundreds of bucks.8-o A worthy investment and not something that a lot of us can just throw around. So I'm proposing that we all post some good Mech Mod / RDA / Battery (and charger what the hell) Combos for 100$ or under. I wish I would have had something like this to refer to when I started out. It could have saved me a bunch of cash. Remember these are just suggestions and a way to get us poor to semi-poor newbies headed in the right direction.

I'll put in my two cents to start. Get a Kamry K100+ or a K101. These mods are pretty sturdy. I've beat the crap out of mine already and it still kicks and functions fine. It telescopes nice for when I'm using smaller battery like the 18350's and hides right in my fist. It fits an 18650 with a kick just fine and you can also buy a small extender if you wish to use a VV kick too. I got the mod and the charger, a kick, and a zipper case along with a 18650 and 18350 (both of which the guy suggested I throw away. Apparently the batteries from Kamry could be better. But I've been using them anyway and they seem fine. I wouldn't use them to sub-ohm though.) for around 45$

As for the RDA I picked up a cheap nimbus for 15$. A three post RDA which works good for the price. You might want to drill the holes in the cap a little bigger depending on your vape style though. The only drawback I can find with this RDA is the wire holes on the posts are rather small so if you are trying to use twisted coils or parallels you probably wont be able to unless you have means of drilling the post side holes. I didn't risk trying since it was the only RDA I had at the time. I might try this weekend though.

So for around 70-75$ you can get a good starter set and still have some cash left over for some juice and some Kanthal

Again.. I'm new to all of thus but I'm simply trying to add what I've learned so far. I'm sure the comments to follow will have plenty of good info for you all as well!:pop:

:vapor: Keep your heads in those clouds! :vapor:

*****EDIT: I guess I should have been more specific originally but my main point for posting this was leaning more to MECHANICAL MODS and starting out with those. This isn't necessarily a thread for people looking to START vaping period in which case I wouldn't recommend going with a MECH until you've become comfortable with OHMs law and working with coils as well as battery safety. Again this thread should be for starter MECH MOD SETUPS. Thank you.******

My current all day setup. Solid vaping on a budget.

$19.79 Nemesis Style Mechanical Mod - brass version at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

That brass nemesis is actually pretty good quality for a great price.

$2.36 Connection Parts for Kayfun v3.1 RDA & Nemesis Mod at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

Makes the nemesis a little shorter and make for a cheap replacement if I manage to strip out the 510 connections.

I am loving these ceramic shorty drip tips. Very comfortable on my lips and feel like a coffee cup.

Ehpro kayfun lite plus V2 I got from ebay for $30.00. Kayfuns just work great giving me good vapor production and taste. I totally get why they are so popular.

Nitecore I4 from amazon for $20. Great budget charger.

A pair of sony VCT4 30am batterys the can be had for about $20. Good battery with plenty of power to spare.

All that can be had for $90-100 and works together great. Throw in a RDA or two and you got a great setup.

For my friend I recommended the following... this is with helping him to learn how to build coils... etc

Cana mod DNA30 - $70
2x eFest 3100mah 30amp - $20
Ehpro Kayfun Lite Plus v2 -$28
Coil, wire and juice provided by me to get him started.

Total - $118

Not bad, but if you get your DNA30 clone from Fasttech they only cost $55.

And no reason to buy two batteries when the mod only holds one and has USB charging.

So your real cost for that setup should be closer to $93.

Mine's pretty much the same as HughDaHand's except I'm even cheaper:

- Nemesis clone from FT (I have the rainbow one but the stainless, brass, copper, and black versions are all around $20).
- Kayfun clone from FT (I use the $15 KFL, with a nano kit and direct connection parts).
- 3D RDA from FT (The polished stainless is only $11).
- Nitecore i4 from Amazon for $20
- Efest IMRs in 18350 and/or 18650. A pair of either for around $13, both for $25ish. Bought these at a shop last time I was in Syracuse, but friends have actually had luck getting them on eBay o_O

If the person didn't already have juice I'd recommend they just get a pair of 18350s and spend the rest on a decent 30ml of juice. This leaves leftover for a bag of cotton, a couple spools of kanthal, and a dollar-store mini screwdriver set. Boom, fully setup to vape with the only necessary ongoing expense being juice.

As a semi-poor (well, really poor) vaper... We need easy access to cheaper, but worthy, setups. I'm well aware that my current budget puts me in the running for pretty much the bottom of the line setups... I'm interested in knowing how to get the best bang for my small price tag.

What is your budget and what do you have now? Are you willing to wait for the slow boat from China (a month), a week, or do you want it now? I'm sure the folks here can help you out. A lot of times those starter kits have non replaceable coils and wicks in the clearomizers, etc so you are always buying a new one, and it is plastic at that.

Well currently my main job pays only $400 a month, of which $350 goes towards bills. But I'm only at this job for two more weeks (well, until the 3rd), at which point I will be stepping up my game when it comes to the "real job" search. I do have a replaceable-coil tank right now, but it's still bottom of the line. One of the jobs I'm applying to is at a local small-chain vape store and I definitely plan to continue getting my equipment from there if I get the job, and primarily from there even if they don't hire me.

I also think jaxgator pretty much hit it. For a newbie, I would not suggest jumping in to the mods and rebuilding untill you are sure you know what your doing and have a good ohm meter. The Mvp 2 gives you a ohm reader and the battery lasts for almost two days, can be used a a passthough, and accepts lots of options for just about any tank. Still a big jump from cigalikes, but not off the deep end.
