So I'm stocking up on supplies and hardware in anticipation of a worst case scenario with coming FDA regulations. One of the new PVs I bought is the 'VAMO' VV/VW device. I just got it in the mail today and so far I love it!

Just one problem and one question I have with it. The problem is that the '-' button doesn't seem to work all that well. In fact, I first thought it didn't work at all. When I push it nothing happens for a second. After holding it a second or so it starts changing the volts/watts. It's no big deal really, just wish it worked perfectly (but what can be expected with Chinese hardware). Hopefully with a little breaking in, it will get better. Not really a deal breaker anyway.

The question I have is with the VW/VV. When I go into VW mod and set the watts, it will hold the setting as long as I stay in 'W' mode. If I go into the Voltage adjustment and set it on say 5.0, I go back to the 'W' mode and it's back to 3.0...the default.

I was under the impression that I would be able to set the wattage and then adjust the voltage separately and both would hold the settings.

Can some please offer some insight? Do I have a defective unit or am I doing something wrong?

This is correct, also if it is set to wattage it will remember your setting when changing the batts but not on voltage

Ah...I see! I was confused on that.

Thank you for clearing it up for me.

So basically, a VV/VW device gives you the choice to choose either watts or volts...not both.

In that case....I'm feeling like it's a little bit of a marketing ploy and nothing more. Any VV device, by default) would probably adjust the watts accordingly. The addition of a wattage adjustment really does nothing more (or better) than having a voltage adjustment only.

Oh well....at least I didn't pay a ton extra for the 'added benefit'.

Hiya - when you are in variable watts mode it automatically adjusts the voltage to suit the attached resistance. So you can't set the voltage while in vw mode - it works at the set watts by doing voltage adjustment. If you were able to change the volts you'd be changing the watts too.
When you go to variable voltage mode it goes back to 3.0 volts as a safety precaution. In variable voltage mode it will not automatically adjust for the resistance. For example, lets say you attach a LR carto. So reverting back to the lowest voltage setting means you are not going to accidentally fire it off at high volts and pop a coil, or burn your juice.

I like wattage better personally. I set the wattage and then change up my delivery systems with different ohm heads and don't worry about having to change anything. Where with volts you need to change it depending on the resistance of the heads.

You are using both, its saving you having to calculate the voltage and resistance to get the desired watts. Its like automatic transmission instead of manual.

Watts are the desired outcome - a vv device is giving you watts. With variable wattage you have cruise control - instead of adjusting the volts to get the watts - you can start with the watts you want and the voltage is adjusted for you. As Silent Screams said, it is useful when you use different attachments and want to stay at the same watts, and easier to use because you aren't having to figure in ohms as well.

OK...so that explains further, the benefit of variable watts.

So maybe it's not just a marketing ploy, as I first thought. Should help save on coils at least.

Thank you all for the schooling. I've been vaping for about a year now, but just recently started getting into the world of mods.

The world of mods is pretty interesting. I think its cool that the Vamo gives both options - just with vv alone it would be a good pv for the price. I prefer the vw - I use it all the time now.

So what everyone is saying to you is, if you have a 1.5ohm carto, a 2.0 and a 3.0 carto and want to use all 3 back to back for whatever reason. In VV you will have to increase the volts yourself by going into the menu and actually setting it to whatever volt gives you the vape heat and vapor production you want. So for instance you find that your 1.5ohm carto works great at 3.5volts and then you slap a 3.0ohm carto on at 3.5 volts isnt going to do much for you so you will have to up it to 5-6.0 volts yourself. When it is in wattage mode you set it for say 8-9 watts and you can swap those cartos out and not have to touch the settings, it will automatically adjust to whatever device you put on top regardless of ohms, so you will get the same effect from a 1.5ohm carto @9 watts as you will a 3.0ohm carto at 9.0 watts. Hope that clears anything up.
