Got my Chuck today

Just got my Big Chuck today, Yipee! I really don't know if it's Yypee, Yippee or Yipee?

A little background first:

I have been vaping for a bit over a year, started off with some generic 3.7v model, moved to a PS pen style on 3.7v.

Early summer, made my own flashlight mods, running at 6+v. Too inconstant mechanically, and too harsh on the throat, no, not throat hit (TH), burning and burnt juice.

In July I moved to a Prodigy @ 5v with an 801, with an 801 Passthrough backup, lovin' it! Other than my Prodigy has been in the shop twice, still waiting for it to come back, so have been using the passthrough until 510 Chuck arrived today.

First off, I fired it up at 3.7v with some VG Peach juice that I fell In Like with, ok, maybe it was love, enough that I just ordered & received 300ml of 24mg. Good TH on the Prodigy and passthrough, but nothing on the Chuck at 3.7v. OK, popped in a couple of 3v Tenergies that I use for the Prodigy, better vapor and TH, but after a few hits, staring that burning taste again from back in the DIY mod days.

I started letting the Chuck button go a little sooner to keep it cooler and it was better on the burn, but still not what I was looking for as far as flavor and TH.

I thought maybe the atomizer is finally broken in, so I tried the 3.7v option again about 5 hours later with the VG Peach and although it was a little better than before, still wasn't getting the Th, that I was looking for. In between time, I switched to another atty (actual Joye 510 btw).

I then pulled out some EcoPure Rich at 25mg @ 3.7v and the TH was better than the PS passthrough?????????

By now, you can guess I'm pretty confused, not to mention, I'm a few beers into the evening and don't know what to think.

I did order a 510 - 801 adapter, but is on B/O from Jeff, so I couldn't do an 801-801 comparison.

Maybe when all said and done, the equation is something like this:

Prodigy + 5v + 801 + VG Peach juice = :)
Chuck + 3.7v + 510 + VG Peach juice = :(
Chuck + 6v + 510 + VG Peach juice = :(

Chuck + 3.7v + 510 + EcoPure juice = :)
Chuck + 6v + 510 + EcoPure juice = :(
Prodigy + 5v + 801 + EcoPure juice = :(

Maybe it all comes down to the juice+voltage+atomizer= :), if so, it would be nice if someone could list it. Ok , I know that the taste variations, when it comes to personal preferences come into play, can get subjective.

I was so hoping to come up with some sort of standard vaping equipment, that would keep me from having to have several different variations of voltages, juices and equipment to maintain satisfaction.

Maybe the solution, is to come up with what works and get multiples of that? In this particular case, maybe it's getting all 5v options with the same atomizers?

Sheezzz, is anybody still reading this?????????????????

How about what 3.7v atty and juice works best for TH for the Chuck?

Ok, I'm done, I'm almost done with my beer!

What next?

I use 24-26 at 3.7v and 18-24 at 6v...

I think the burnt is from not keeping it soaked. I drip (no filler) 5 drops on the atty and vape abt 6 poOfs, then another 5 drops.

No matter the juice, if u soak it its ALWAYS good!

When using filler or blue foam, I refill the cart every 10-15 poOfs... and add one drop to atty to get it going.

IMO, Dripping is great with 6v, but to each thier own. What floods an atty at 3.7v is just warming the atty up for 6v. At first I didnt know this n thought I hated 6v, then I learned I just was afraid to flood the atty and was actually starving it, thus the burnt taste ;)

Yeh, yesterday at 6v, I would get 2 good hits after 3 drops, then burn & burnt. I thought I was flooding it. I pulled the atty and had juice in the well, all over the threads and just dripping out of the atty. It still worked, but I thought it was too much all over, maybe not.

At any rate, I think it may be all about finding the right juice to get what I need out of this 510, 3.7v device. I sure like the idea of not having to worry about the battery for a day or 2.

Yeah, thicker juice is better and ake sure u drop it on the bridge, not just anywhere in there or it wont soak it up and it wiill flood...shoulda mantioned that on first post :)

Yeah, I know that you should hit the bridge, key word being Should! I remember one time, I was dripping in a movie theater and was almost an inch off and dripping on my hand

I guess I have to go through a learning curve on this 6v machine to find out how to get what I want out of it. Not what I wanted to do, but I guess I will have to.

I have come to the conclusion that 3.7v is out, so I need to address the 6v issue. Man I wish these Chucks came in 5v, that would solve everything, at least for me.

I guess I need to look at HV atty's and HV juice if I want to continue using the Chuck. That sounds like the next step, unless I'm missing other options?

I was having good times with my 5-6 volt mods, then last week, burnt taste. What it turned out being is that the cart filter foam was not making enough contact with the wick. The burnt taste one-I cut the foam length before I put it in the cart. It ended up sliding down when pressed by the wick. The "oh joy again" one, I pushed the foam into the cart, all the way down and cut. Now instead of sliding down, the wick forms a little pocket in the foam without sliding down and my burnt taste is absolutely gone!

Ok, day 2, after going back to my Prodigy 5v last night and through this morning, I decided I needed to try the Chuck 6v again, but with a different juice.

I used some EcoPure Rich in 25mg and also let off the switch after approx. 2 seconds, as opposed to the "hold it until I can't suck anymore" that I use with the Prodigy, and all is ok.

I then put my old favorite VG Peach, and again, only about a 2 second push and keep sucking for another 2, and it works. But Chuck is still a juice hog, compared to 5v. So be it, I've got enough juice on hand.

CTJ mentioned a few day learning curve, and so it is.

Moral of the story is, if you are moving to higher voltage, you can't hold the button down until you can't inhale anymore, you need to adjust accordingly.

BTW, I don't use carts, I exclusively drip. I got tired of dealing with all that stuff, so I pulled it out of the equation.

I think I will keep my Chuck, however, I do plan on trying some HV juice and atty's in the future.

I think in the beginning everyone does this. Get 6v, hold the button down, and then either blow your head off or choke on the burning taste depending on how you dripped.

It's perfectly natural to have different flavors for different setups and there is no catch-all "sweet spot". I love my chuck and will never need another mod outside of curiosity/price, but it doesn't offer 5v. If the combination of a 5v Prodigy, 801 atty, and VG Peach is your idea of a perfect vape then you're set for life. :)
