Does it taste like something is burning? For a CE4, you may need to tilt the topper to make sure that the wicks on top are soaked with e-liquid.

I got a CE4 with my first battery and I never could get around the plastic/burnt/chemical taste. I've since picked up some nanos, which are basically micro CE4s. Even after rinsing in vinegar, alcohol, and unicorn piss, I never could get them to taste good.

Advice to the OP: find a local shop so you can walk in and walk out with gear. You don't have to spend a fortune, but buy a second battery, and two decent quality tanks (my local shop steered me down the Evod2/mini-protank3 path, but you may like something else when you see it. You should be able to buy two tanks and a spare battery, even at brick and mortor prices, for around $30.

You'll get a consistent vape that doesn't taste like crap, have a battery always ready, and have more than one tank so you can start experimenting with flavors. I think those three things are critical to being able to stick with it.
