so, i got my VK in the mail yesterday. i wanted to go atleast a day before posting. i must say im impressed. having never "vaped" i was cautious and didnt expect much. glad to say and to my suprize i have only smoked 2 analogs in the last 2 days. i didnt REALY need them but i woke up and im just so used to lighting up in the morning that it just sort of happened, tomorow i will head streaght for my VK and start full time. im liking the flavors although some i can go without. Mark took realy good care of me at V4L and i would recomand he and Steve to any smoker. i realy like the vapor production of the XL they tossed in, think ill have to get some more of those.

couple of questions.

reading all this hype about PG makes me wonder if going to VG would be an even healthier alternative. not that im having problems with the PG but it is a in the back of my mind. what are your thoughts on this?

2) has anyone noticed whitening of teeth? if there is only one thing i get out of this (besides quiting analogs) i would love to shine the ole pearls.

3) ok.. how does the dosage of nicotine work, is it ex: 1 x 20 ml bottle contains 18mg of nicotine meaning there is 18mg devided by 20 ml? if so does that mean that the 5 ml bottles with 18mg have even more nic per drop because it is devided to only 5 ml?

thanks for your help, and thank you V4L for yours aswell.

None are going to whiten your teeth. But it should certainly prevent further staining.

Just because something is "naturally occurring" doesn't make it [more] healthy.

Cyanide gas is naturally occurring. So's Chlorine gas. Sulpher dioxide? I'd strongly suggest not inhaling any of those if you want to continue living for more than the next few seconds.

There's a large body of work, building every day, on inhaled atomized PG. The stage industry has done it "forever" in practice. I've seen very little to no body of work on inhaled atomized VG.

The number of mg is per mL. But you can't directly compare that to smoking. The uptake of nicotine is lower in this form. How much lower is entirely dependent upon you.

Anyway - that's my non-doctor-ie thoughts on the topic. :)

Congrats, btw! For me, hitting the high nicotine ratings in the morning then tapering off ended all cravings for the traditional cigarettes.

There is a posting on nic levels by Jaxx somewhere on the board..after all the shuffling around I am not sure where it went! You do lose nic in the vapor and you don't retain as much as you did when smoking..so if you vape like a crazy person at first..don't sweat it. You will find your comfort level in time.

Don't give up on the flavors you weren't crazy about just yet. Your tastebuds will go thru a lot of changes in the next few weeks. I liked and didn't like flavors on any given day. Then the next day I switched what I liked and didn't.
V.G. is thicker then P.G. and some say it doesn't deliver flavor as well.

Don't go commando on health issues right yet..take your time and get used to one thing at a time. I doubt there is much in the way of "better" for you difference in P.G. vs. V.G. You have been dealing with P.G. most of your life in Ice Cream and Toothpaste as well as many other products.

Use one of those tooth whiteners and it will last quite a while. Unless you are drinking a lot of black coffee or tea!

Congrats on your first few days of vaping! You are really doing good! It took me a week to quit analogs. Try to hold off smoking for as long as you can after you wake up. Keep your V.K. right next to you, vape before you puff and see if that helps.

Welcome aboard!

I use some juices that are a 50/50 mix of VG/PG, and seem to get a bit thicker vapor from them. I'm no expert, but would think that the antibacterial/antifungal properties of PG would make it somewhat healthier than VG, perhaps even just in terms of the cleanliness of the cartomizers, etc.

My teeth seem to be getting a bit whiter (I use a whitening rinse daily and also whitening toothpaste). I don't think that the vaping is making them any whiter, but it just isn't contributing to the problem anymore. Early on, I did the napkin test, blowing smoke from an analog through one, and then blowing vapor from my VK through it - the difference is dramatic!

As mentioned, the nicotine is measured per ml of liquid. A cartomizer typically holds a little less than 1 ml of liquid, and most folks tend to go through 1-3 cartomizers per day. There is a very good thread in the Nicotine part of the Health section of the forum - I found a formula in there that was quite helpful to me when I started. Basically it states that you need about 2.5 times the nicotine from an e-cig as from an analog. In my case, the Marlboro Mediums I smoked contain .6mg of nicotine per cigarette, and I smoked a pack a day, so that comes to 12mg (20 x .6). So, according to the formula, I needed 30mg per day via an e-cig (12 x 2.5). I was going through about 1.5 cartomizers per day, so about 1.5mg of liquid per day, that means I needed nicotine strength of around 20mg - I went with 24mg and that was plenty strong enough for me. I think it's time to step down - yesterday I was using 11's and 18's and was just fine.

MaryKay's point about delaying that first cigarette of the day as long as possible is spot-on - I did that every day and the 4th day I never got around to lighting up. For a few days afterward I had some odd mild cravings, but I don't believe they had anything to do with lack of nicotine.

Best of luck, and happy vaping!
