Yes, I'm still on a quest to find good tobacco flavors. I just got an order in from Ecig Xpress with two tobacco Essence flavors. I have Flue Cured and Virginia. I wanted to compare this Virginia with FA Virginia. I've searched for information on mixing tobacco Essence but haven't had much luck. I watched a video of a guy who mixed some Tobacco flavored Tobacco Essence and he stated that recommended strength was 20% 8-o Is this stuff really that weak? It smells strong and smells rather good as opposed to most FA tobaccos. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with it. I know I should start low and work up but if it truly needs a high percentage of flavoring, it will take forever working up from my usual 2% start. Please advise. TIA

LOL Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I didn't want to hear that!!! But, I did just that. I've got a 2% batch whooped up of each. Straight out of the shoot, the Flue Cured has got promise. Definitely not a 15-20% flavor as the video indicated. I like it! I don't get to say that about tobacco flavors, especially fresh mixed ones. I may have found a really good tobacco to work with after all these months of testing and gagging on most of them. Not one hint of flowers or perfume.....NONE! I'll update as time goes on. Now on to the Virginia...

Lynda,

You already know what to do, you just didn't want to hear it!

Start at 2% and go up!

Good luck!

Pete

Hmmm. I need a mentor who is also looking for tobacco favors with NO weird undertones!! Can I pick you??

Certainly! but you probably want to hang out here while I continue my search. It's been a long and lonely venture. This Essence stuff is certainly different. It's rather thick, not at all like FA and TPA tobaccos. I accidentally stumbled on it while searching for a 555 flavor for a friend. They are out of 555 so I picked these to test the waters. I emailed Linnx and asked him what percent was best and he didn't know because he's never mixed any. He's going to ask around and see if he can come up with suggestions. Seems to be pretty much unexplored in the DIY world.

Oooh! That's what NEEDS to be explored! Do you know what it is that gives the awful (only my opinion!)nutty undertones? Or what to do about it?

That's what I'm trying to avoid too. I just want a good smooth, non nutty tobacco and one that doesn't reek of perfume and flowers. There are others here who have learned the secret to mixing the ones I can't stand to smell. Hoosier has a lot more experience with the tobacco field than I. Maybe he'll jump in with suggestions. It's really hard for me to play around with a flavor that I can't stand to smell. So far I haven't been able to mix any of them to my satisfaction. I love FA Virginia mixed with TA but it does have a strong grassy/hay type taste that many find repulsive. I've been playing around with the tobacco molecules mixed with TA, all from TPA. I have created a couple of mixtures that are just "okay" but nothing to write home about. There are some who have had success with Seedman's Commercial Cigarette but that one doesn't work for me because it tastes too much like a cigarette (harsh ashtray like taste IMO). There are several vendors who have mastered the art of mixing good tobacco bases and they must be using the brands that I find disgusting or they found some really nice tobacco flavors that I have yet to find. I had much rather vape a good tasting tobacco than dessert/fruit vapes. I like the sweet treats, but only as occasional vapes. I do like tobacco mixed with fruits and what I'm searching for is tobacco flavors that compliment other flavors. This by far is the toughest challenge in the world of DIY.

Lynda, are you using EM with your tobacco bases?

Lynda, are you using EM with your tobacco bases?

For the most part, yes. I always mix a tobacco flavor straight up with no additives to get an unadulterated taste test. I let it set for at least one day and then start playing with the strength. Once I get the strength to my satisfaction, the first thing I grab is TA, diluted in 10% EM. I've yet to find a tobacco flavor that can stand on its own and to me, TA always adds more depth. Sometimes I add additional amounts of EM. After reading some of our new threads, I'm thinking of mixing some EM in a stronger strength. Initially, I was under the impression that EM could not be mixed at a higher ratio but I've come to realize that it can so I'm going to see what, if any, difference a stronger solution will make.

Are you mixing the tobaccos in just pg or vg and nothing else?

I usually mix them at 60/40 PG/VG because I always end up adding either more flavor, TA or EM and I like tobaccos at 70/30 PG/VG. It gives me 10% play room for tweaking and ending up with close to a 70/30 mix. I always add something to tobaccos. I haven't found a tobacco flavor yet that can stand on its own without adding something.

Can you tell me what you favorite vendor flavors are?

I like many of TPA's flavors and so far I'm liking most of the Capella flavors I ordered. I get most of my FA tobacco flavors from Liberty Flights with 20% off which enabled me to try several of them without stinging my bank account too bad.
