What's the point in replacing the stock wick with a longer on (besides replacing a crusted over dirty wick)? I tried this yesterday and didn't see any immediate improvements.

The standard wick just didn't really do it for me, but also I wanted to be able to dry burn without the metal cap on. So I would do my dry burn, then cut off the burnt portion of the wick.

Ty Ty man. Soz it's this iPad don't read them somehow... I can read the embedded videos and links it seems. And I didn't want to have to resort to firing up the old 486 for it.

Yea, it's because the iPad doesn't support flash so it has to load up in the Youtube app. In the future I will embed and post a link for ease of access.

I did that at first, but I found that burning the end of the wick in a clean hot flame works wonders. Using my stove now, but I'm going to pick up a torch lighter to use instead.

what are you going to use when you run out of old ce2's?

Get a foot of silica rope...unbraid it...enough to make hundreds of wicks probably. Or, just go to a junkyard and give the owner a buck to pull the seal from an old oven door.

If you want nichrome to try to rewind the coil...of course you can buy it, or if you have an old dead hair dryer laying around bust into that for some.

Someone asked about needing to mod the Bud.

For me it hasn't been necessary. Folks are doing it on this first run to see how they work and what can be done to them to make them LAST till they're in stock again. If people really dig these things it won't be long till they are stocked in sufficient quantities to bring the price down some (or pack a few more in a box) and make them true disposables right?
