I didn't hear anything about the FDA being shut down. This whole shutdown thing is just screwing over our veterans, elderly, and closing our parks, services.

Like they weren't getting screwed over before? At any rate the thread is just some light hearted humor not a political debate.

"Gov shutdown" + "light hearted humor" = thread moved to OUTSIDE! in 20 posts or less.

I tried to throw a Republican into the Boston Harbor today but they didn't cooperate.

I am a veteran, I got my disability check. I also have a Dr. Appt at the VA tomorrow, I called to check, the VA medical facilities are also unaffected by the shutdown. As for the FDA, they said on the news the meat inspectors are still working, but the rest are on furlow.

About half of FDA employees are listed as non-essential and unlike the shutdowns in '95 and '96, they aren't pre-funded this time and started being sent home this afternoon.

It's good to be informed. You might ask your google what govt agencies and govt employees are actually affected. WAPO had a pretty good write up but they didn't know how many FDA employees are essential and non-essential. Ney York Daily News did a write up, but missed pretty badly on their numbers and agency list. The Blaze has a pretty thorough article (and actually knew how many FDA employees would be furloughed) etc etc.

The (in my opinion) more important question for vapers in the short term is how many customs enforcement agents are essential and non-essential. If this goes a few weeks, a lot of attys, cartos, and other devices might be stacked up in shipping containers at the ports. I haven't found an article listing an actual source or even agreeing with the numbers in any other article yet as to how many customs agents or other personnel are listed as non-essential.

I don't keep up with the news anymore honestly. No idea why this is happening etc, only thing I keep up with is the FDA and their deal against vaping.

If you have not watched the news in a long time I will catch you up. Politicians are busy pissing around and making fake problems to pretend to solve so they don't have to solve the real problems that they have no idea how to fix. So probably about the same as when you last checked. Now too keep things relevant.

Not funny at all. Let me tell you something - my uncle is serving 14 years in prison for tearing the tags off his mattress and, in a drunken rage, tearing the tags off his wife's mattress (they always slept in different beds). He may have done something else. Oh wait a minute, now I remember something else about a bank. Ok nevermind.
