Ephesians 2:8-9

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Why do people think they can work their way into Heaven? They think that there is something they can do to find favor through works to get God's attention to prove they are worthy to get into Heaven. Lets look at Scripture and see what God says about it, because it's not the fact that you are a good person.....haven't robbed any banks, murder, adultry, lying, etc. The benchmark is not comparing yourself to your neighbors and friends, it's comparing yourself to Jesus. How do you look compared to Jesus Christ? I fall so short.

Websters Dictionary says about Grace:
b : a virtue coming from God
c : a state of sanctification enjoyed through divine grace

Divine Grace comes from
God. We don't deserve it, but God extends Grace to everyone and we accept His gift by faith. What is faith?

Hebrews 11:!
11 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Grace is accepted by us through faith, meaning I believe that God extended faith to me by His Grace, the free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. Now I couldn't see it....evidence of things not seen.....but I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that His gift was real. Jesus died on the cross and paid for my sin instead of making me pay for them. I mean, when it happened to me, I cried for 3 days. Why? Because my 5 dumptruck loads of sin was GONE. I was forgiven of everything up to that moment. It was like Heavenly acid was poured on these truck loads and everything was gone including the trucks! I was different. The old me died and Jesus created a new and improved me....I was born-again. That is what that phrase means. That was in 1985. It hasn't changed. Jesus is everything to me. You could tell without a doubt if you came to my house!!!!

'Not of works, lest any man should boast.' What does that mean? Okay, say we went to clean the church...dust vacuum, what have you. Say you cleaned the church 10 times and I only did it 5 times. You turn to me and say, "Hey, I'm going to Heaven because I worked harder than you!" You are telling me your works meant more than mine and I'm just out in the cold while you boasted and made me feel inadequate.

Thank You, Jesus, for taking the penalty for my sin, my mistakes, my ugliness, my debt. Thank You for a 'paid in full' gift of Grace. I don't deserve it, yet I am so thankful. I love You, Lord and I Praise Your Name for the many blessings You have bestowed upon me. You are so wonderful to think of me....a speck on the huge earth. I adore You, Lord. For it's in Your Precious Name I pray, Amein!

Not being a christian I can say that I appreciate the word Grace and use is very sparingly. I do not agree with all that you posted but I do agree with holding this concept in a holy way for those people that deserve it. No disrespect intended or I would not come to this place.

No disrespect taken. I'm just happy that you came to see us again! I am interested in what you agree with and what you don't agree with. Lord knows that I don't have all the answers, PT. But in case I can answer some of your questions, I'd be glad to give it the 'ol college try!' If I can't satisfy your heart, then maybe someone else can. Jesus shed His blood for us and God looks through His blood upon us. We look righteous when God looks at us. The way I see it, I call it Son glasses! If you don't wish to share, that's okay too. We won't judge you, so you can relax around us. :)

In a secular way it means to me the level that we seek is the same. To not judge, to care, to love without prejudice. To me this word is a word that we that believe or do not believe . To me this is the higher ground that we can agree on.
I honestly have no need to try to make you believe in what I do and I hope you feel the same. IMO it is the need and drive to make other believe exactly what we do that is the downfall of mankind. That is pretty much evident through our history.
At the end of the day if we have a common believe does it really matter if we disagree about where we came from or where we are going?

Your 2nd sentence, to me, is about unconditional love. To be loved as you are, to be accepted for who you are. This is something you would think our parents teach and show. Mine did, not to say that I didn't get in trouble alot, because I did. Not all people had parents like I did. This was/is such a shock to me when I became an adult and talked with so many people who didn't have parents like I did. I didn't realize how blessed I was. For those who didn't have the kind of parents I did, all you have to do is look at the devotion of a pet. A dog loves you unconditionally. Cats love you, but there is a price!

I completely agree with you about trying to make others believe like I do. I won't push myself on anyone, as I do not wish for others to do the same to me. All I can do is tell you what in my opinion is the truth and you have free will to accept it or not. There are people who profess to be Christians who are not. However, I am held accountable to God if I don't profess His truth. That is why I explained the Scriptures in this post like I did. It's not a judgmental call against you in any way. It's that I have to present what I believe is the best for not only you, but for everyone. Part of unconditional love is that I want the best for everyone and this is the best I can offer.

Thank you for a civil discussion and I hope you will stay here! :)
