So my grandpa bought an e-cig. I purchased a mini protank 2 on a vision spinner 1300 mAh and it was working really well. He tried it and liked the flavor, the vapor, and the cleanliness. He said he wanted to get one so we went up to the local smoke shop and picked up a mini protank 2 on a generic L-smoke battery. My grandpa is a cigarette smoker of 50+ years, so he bought some 8 mg blueberry juice. I don't vape for nicotine, I vape because I like to smoke but don't like how dirty cigarettes are, so I vape some 3mg juice and am planning on buying my next juice with 0 nicotine.

So for my grandpa this is a win win, he gets nicotine without tar and terrible chemical additives of stinkies. Also I feel good for showing him an option for healthier nicotine consumption, I think people called it "converting" here . I'll keep this thread updated as to whether or not the setup takes care of his nicotine need or not.

If he is a life long smoker, I am a little concerned that he might not fill the nicotine craving with 8mg juice, of course, if he doesn't smoke much in a day they it won't be a problem. If he is a life long smoker of 10-20+ a day he might fall off the wagon with 8mg. I'm in the process of dropping my nico levels but I felt like I needed at least 16mg to cover me. Going down to 11 next week, but don't want to pacify vape to make up for the lack of nicotine in me lol

He read on the internet that the average cigarette contains 10 mg on nicotine and he was concerned that 12+ mg of nicotine would be too much. We decided that it would be better to start low and if more is needed to work up from there. I puffed on his setup with the 8mg e juice and felt a definite nicotine buzz, so time will tell. Right now he has the battery on charge.

that's awesome. congrats to your grandpa! i wish i could get my grandma off the tobaccy but the last time i showed up with an e-cig for her to try she shot it. luckily her aim isn't as good as it used to be.

Someone posted on here that before you stop smoking cigarettes, you have to want to stop smoking cigarettes. My grandpa in this case wanted to stop with the inhalation of tar. Your grandma on the other hand, took up a fine opportunity to sharpen her aim apparently.:blink:

It took me 3 months to quit using both trying to use 6-8mg liquid. I think many smokers give up because of the lack of satisfaction of too little nicotine.

I'm a grandma that smoked for 53 yrs, the last 12 at least 2 1/2 PAD. However, the cigs were ultra lights, no recognizable name brand, cheap. Could never find how much nic in them. So, I started at 9 mg and figured I'd go up or down depending. Been fine vaping only for near 8 mos. and had no withdrawal symptoms. First day of vaping, last day of smoking. Think the big part of my habit was the hand to mouth thing. Needed a "pacifier".....my blankie....:p

Yup ^^^ Another grandma here. 43 years 1.5 PAD and I quit on 12mg. Switched to 6 mg in the first few weeks. It's different for each of us. I never thought I'd live to see the day that I was a non smoker. It's been 67 days now and I'm still simply amazed. Good luck to your Grandpa. Make sure you continue to be there for him if needs help tweaking his equipment or juice or just for support. It could make the difference for him.

I will. I told him I would clean his coils for him and everything.

Another grandpa here, and where were you 1 1/2 years ago? :)

Heck, just get him some spare coils, show him how to change them (and why), have him baggie them all up and do a marathon dry burn. I'd guess he could even handle that. And the nic is proving to be effective in enhancing cognitive function, so I vape 100 mg (NOT!!) to keep my sits wharp. Works like a sharm farmp champ

    That is soo cool!
I too smoked for 50+ years, and found the transition to vaping seamless. I hope it goes as well for your gramps.
At first I needed to have some 24mg juice aound to keep the gremlins run off, but I could not vape it all the time, so just for when I needed a little extra.
Now it depends on what I'm using that determines the nic %. For example I use 10mg in an A7 atomizer, but 5mg in my kayfun.

BTW I'm 73, and wrap my own coils and DIY my own liquids.

Wow. Lots of geezers here. :D I'm approaching semi-old farthood myself. We all need to get together and complain about young people someday.

It's apples to oranges. That 10mg cigarette delivers nicotine a lot more efficiently than vaporizing does. I would check on him to make sure he's getting enough.

I puffed on his setup with the 8mg e juice and felt a definite nicotine buzz, so time will tell. Right now he has the battery on charge.
    That's because you're only vaping 3mg of nic. :)

I only warn people about this because I was sucking my brains out on 13mg e-cigs the first 10 days of tobacco "abstinence". The headaches were definitely noticeable due to withdrawal. The only thing that kept me vaping was my laziness to go out and get some smokes. (And Mrs. Kodiak bragging about me.)
