Ok folks... Our flavorings finally arrived today from TPA and I told the wife to start out with something very simple with no nic. Sooooo.... She wanted to make a simple Grape vape. (wasn't that a cartoon character back in the 70's? lol) Damn.. I digress.

Even though this was pretty simple math I showed her Dan's calc sheet so she would start to get familiar to it when she makes more complex juices. She used Dan's PG No-Nic calculator but after tasting a little sample of her first brew I'm thinking maybe we are missing something here. It's not very tasty at all.
This is how she mixed it.
2ml batch size
35/55 PG/VG
0% water or PGA
10% flavoring (Grape)

I told her to maybe put 5 drops of cotton candy in to sweeten it up but that didn't help so she gave it another 5 drops and still not much better. :(

So what's the deal here? Is this TPA flavoring super strong and we used too much or something?

Next time try mixing at 5-7 % flavor and then allow to sit overnight with the top off. That may help a little. IMHO PA grape is very strong, and a little goes a long way. Same with the green apple. Too, steeping for a few days may mellow everything out and bring out the best in the flavor.

I'm sorry I can't help more. I am pretty new to DIY myself.

Thanks for the help Sapphyre. If this mini batch is still bad after she lets it steep for a bit I'll tell her to try 5-7% flavor next time.

Most "fresh" juice really needs to sit for a few days before the final flavor comes through. I don't adjust juice until it's steeped because I end up with something too strong and too sweet. It is very hard to wait though.

Yup. I knew fresh complex juice needs to steep for a bit, I just didn't think a simple single flavor like Grape would need to.
That's great advise Springbird. Thanks!

oh it was the grape :) i actually made 6 flavors: green tea,watermelon,pizza,grape,ry4,and balckberry. i didn't add anything to them. it's only my second attempt at making juice. not sure why a sweetener is needed?-i'm not much for sweet things, but i guess i'll find out. i messed up the blackberry by not paying attention. i had it in a 30 ml bottle and mixed it up with the other bottle i was adding a 50/50 nic base too. now i have to go back and figure out how much more flavor to add. eeek
