I just decided to do a little research and find an e-cigarette after thinking about it for a year or two. And I know next to nothing about e-cigs. I did some research this week and finally settled on Green Smoke. I ordered menthol ice and vanilla dream cartomizers.

What are your opinions on Green Smoke? I've read some threads about Green Smoke on the site but most of them seem like they were posted before GS's new flavormax cartomizers. Also, if I buy the GS carts in bulk they're roughly $1.80 a pack, opposed to me spending $5 a pack prior. I know nothing about e-juice, just read about it here and there, but is it worth it for me to consider filling my own carts. Keep in mind $100 bucks of GS carts will probably last me around 4 months. I'm not a super heavy smoker. Just wondering if I should look into e-juice or not. I'm not the type that's gonna be super happy with charging my cigs and having to keep up with that, so is e-juice worth the hassle?

jm, I am far from being able to advise you on any equipment, but I will say one thing, if you are happy and comfortable with the decision you made and it works for you, that is all that counts. I have been reading the forum for weeks now and many good people here have a wide range of likes and dislikes. Only time will tell if any purchase will hold up but you are the one that has to determine that. If you feel you need more, the good people here will direct you in the right direction. Enjoy the forum and enjoy the vape as I do. Off tobacco now since 9/29/11.

I upgraded from an njoy to a greensmoke..or so I thought lol. Are they still 130$ for a kit? 50$ for a battery? Way overpriced stuff dude. You should be able to get batteries for 10 to 20 bucks. The carto price isn't bad. I will give them that. But you should REALLY check out some other gear. You can make this much easier on yourself imo. Here's some good sites to check out.

NHaler • Smoking Alternatives

www.bloogplanet.com

www.smoklessimage.com

V4L - Vapor4Life - Vapor King - the best e-cigarette/smoking alternatives!

And you should FOR SURE look into getting juices. All of the companies I listed have good\decent juice. But flavors are really hard to judge for someone else. You pretty much just have to try things and see what you like.

Good luck!!

Greensmoke would be fine except it is not the compatible twin. Greensmoke is KR808D-2 aka E9 - a perfectly fine model except for not having manual batteries available. It's one some rebranders use, probably for the exact reason that it is incompatible with the rest of the KR8 stuff. It's a fine unit, probably a real 3.7v model like its near twin, a strong slim mini.

Vapor4Life, SmokelessImage. Bloogplanet, HalocigsG6 and more are KR808D-1 threading and 3rd party makers of new kinds of cartos usually support KR808D-1 threading. KR808D-2 threading is never supported.

What you can get for KR808D-2
Greensmoke
Smoke 51 Duo
Red Dragon
Vapure (if they still exist)
Blank cartos and some parts at AZSmokefree.com, blank cartos at Vaporkings.com
Adapters at LeCig.com (D2 to D1, D1 to D2, 510 to D2 - with the left symbol meaning the battery)

It's fine for starting out - just more expensive and less stuff available for it vs its near twin KR808D-1

You could return it and get KR808D-1, or keep it and buy the D2 to D1 adapter and use KR808D-1 stuff on it too. It's a strong starter other than not having manuals (what most here use and recommend, especially when refilling cartos) and it needs an adapter to use KR808D-1 stuff.

Not the product quality that is the problem with Greensmoke, I really liked their vanilla and menthol. I have my final gs carto in my pocket right now. The problem is price for batts and compatibility as explained by Dormouse. They got me off analogs, and I got my money back for the batts and charger. So I hold no ill will with GS.

I'm with Double Helix. Greensmoke was the first e-cig I bought about 5 weeks ago. The quality is fine, and I also liked some of their flavors. But it's overpriced, and the options are limited. I'd recommend something with 510 threading as there are lots of options - I went with the Riva 510 from Liberty Flights and it's a popular option here. You can refill Greensmoke carts but they make it difficult with the new ones.

Like DoubleHelix, I returned it within their 30 day window, got my money back, and Customer Service was fine, so I also hold no ill will.

You may say you don't want to mess around with juices, but I wouldn't be surprised if you find yourself liking it - it's a lot of fun. I started similar to you (relatively light smoker, wanted something easy, went with GreenSmoke), and I love vaping and trying different flavors.

Just my $.02.

GS is a good and popular brand. Tried a friends and that got me to get an e-cig...not GS though I saw their price and my jaw dropped. Went with a simpler kit from ST. Liked ST but thought flavor was weak.

Now that I've been vaping for a while, I'm glad I didn't get GS because of the compatability issue (mentioned by dormouse) (they design their stuff so you can only use their carts).

Conclusion: get batteries from a supplier that are interchangeable kr808d1 is my preference.

Okay I started out with greensmoke and have to give credit where it's due ...drum roll ... they are what I used to give up analogs completely !! That said ( and I have tried the new carts , def. better ) IMHO the battery is garbage . I am soooo glad I moved on from them. Was so tired of sending in dead batteries and (being a heavy smoker/vaper) always having plugged in many batteries .. Just really got old. That said I have a bunch of low nic flavor max vanilla carts if interested send me a message. They do have good customer service , so I wanted to mention that but again they are over priced and the batteries can be dodgy. I wish you luck with them but would encourage you to look at the different e-liquids and batteries available ( maybe something like an inferno or an ego - pretty straight forward and works with so many things ..dripping tastes great for example) Any other questions about GS feel free to message me I have a LOT of experience with them.

My only beef with GreenSmoke is the price. I had a regular KR808-D and I could get all kinds of stuff for it. That kit cost me about $40. I now have an eGo with dual-coil cartomizers and that kit cost me about $40. I just think $130 for an e-cigg kit is too much (unless it's a Provari or other mod). But then again you'll save hundreds not buying the stinkies so kudos for getting off the vile weed. :)

Don't think...KNOW it lol. It's ridiculous. 50 bucks for a battery lol. I'm really surprised people aren't flaming them more on this thread. Their gear is no better than that 40$ kit you mentioned. Imo, they prey upon newbs and that's something we in this community should really frown upon. I pretty much got started with their kit too, but I pay them little respect for that. By the time I discovered that they were not the norm as far as price goes, I was into them several hundred bucks. As far as I'm concerned, all the e9 re branders need to shrivel up and die off.

\rant off....lol

This is my story exactly (except that I bought my Riva from BitFumo here in Italy where I live).

I might add that I am still using my GreenSmoke because I really love cartomizers and have ordered some dual coils for the Riva (prefilled and empty) that I am hoping will arrive tomorrow. I have some liquids ready to fill the empty cartomizers with but, at least for now, I don't see myself dripping or mixing a lot. I much prefer a ready to vape, low-maintenance kinda thing myself. The problem that I have had with the GreenSmoke cartomizers is that, with the exception of the Absolute Tobacco flavor which seem to be consistently good, they are hard to draw on, dry or simply no good maybe as many as 3 out of 5 times. Add that to the price and the incompatibility of the battery with other cartomizers and, well...pretty easy to see why most people move on quickly to something else (from what I have been reading here in the forum).
I was going to order some more cartomizers from them yesterday just to have them as a back-up but the Absolute Tobacco flavor which, as I mentioned above, is the only consistently good cartomizer they offer, is for some odd reason only being offered at 4mg or 0mg. All the other flavors are available in all nic strangths so I'm not sure what's up with that but, it's just one more reason that the product is not able to keep pace with my vaping expectations.
