They are open on one end, the other end has a small hole through which you inhale. Cant I just drip into the open end or do I have to pull the smaller cart out?

Once you get the hang of filling and figure out how much juice to use you could fill them with out opening the little cap. you'll want a blunt tipped needle to fill that way though. You could do the condom method and not have to open them up too but thats always seemed a bit messy and wasteful to me.
