My daughter managed to get my commitment to quit as her graduation gift for her MBA.
Now, I have been a 1-1.5 pack/day Marlboro Red smoker for 35 years and never even tried to quit since I am a healthy as a horse and very active.
So I read a lot of reviews, and the GreenSmoke seemed to be way up there, so I decided to give it a try.
First impressions were good, and it has actually gotten me off of analogs, although it has been only 2 weeks since I had some problems.
My first problem was with battery life. If you read between the lines, a battery only lasts an average of 5-7 cigarettes. So, if you are not near a convenient charging source, that means that you will have to keep a minimum of 3 charged batteries with you at all times.
When one of the batteries in my starter kit did not charge, I called customer service and they sent me a new battery, no questions asked. After chatting for a while with the rep, I found out the story on the batteries, so I ordered an extra battery and an extra usb charge adapter.
A few days later, I was back to vaping full time.
The new batteries seem to work OK. Unfortunately, my car charger is useless. No fault of the charger, but the power to the cigarette lighter gets turned off when you pull the key. I am in and out of the car a lot and don't do many long drives. I might have been a lot happier with the system, if the battery would continue to charge with the engine off as in some cars (GM models, for instance).
As far as the cartridges and taste are concerned, they are ok; but, some of them taste terrible after only a few puffs. The carts are $15 for a pack of 5. Again, pro con. GreenSmoke is a two piece, which is convenient; on the other hand, you have no flexibility.
My friend's brother is a distributor for ecigarette's vaporking 510. I read the reviews and found that they were generally good. The big selling points for me were the availability of the portable charger, the commonality of the format, and the much lower battery price (about 1/2 of the GreenSmoke). I am also looking forward to experimenting with different juices, which is not possible with the GreenSmoke system.
I also ordered a Screwdriver MII from TotallyWicked which sells it with an adapter for the 510. The Screwdriver will be for home/car use.
I also understand, the 3 piece systems require more maintenance, but one has to weigh flexibility vs. convenience vs cost.
The GreenSmoke is not bad, but not terribly convenient for a heavy smoker who is trying to quit. Customer service is quick and responsive. Of far more concern is the number of dud cartridges.
I will keep you posted on the screwdriver and vaporking 510 progress.
